THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Growth & Strategy Manager to scale the Northern California region — one of our most strategic markets in the U.S.
You’ll start as a hands-on builder — opening doors, closing deals, and shaping our go-to-market motion — and evolve into a leader who will help scale the region and shape how we grow.
A key part of the role will be working closely with the VP of Strategy & Development on high-impact strategic initiatives. You’ll act as a trusted partner, helping translate market insights into strategy, leading strategic projects, and turning ideas into measurable business outcomes.
Roles like this are rare: you’ll have the autonomy of a founder, the backing of a global company, and the opportunity to shape how an entire region — and eventually the U.S. — grows.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Own and grow the California territory:
Build Innovamat’s presence across the region by identifying priority districts across Northern California, shaping a focused territory strategy, and creating strong momentum in the market. Lead district partnerships end-to-end — from outbound and first conversations to pilots and closing long-term agreements.
Partner closely with the VP of Strategy & Development:
Work as a trusted partner to the VP of Strategy & Development, supporting market strategy, identifying growth opportunities, and helping shape key business decisions. Lead strategic projects that have a direct impact on how Innovamat scales across the U.S.
Operate with full ownership of the market:
Take a holistic view of the region — owning revenue, partnerships, and local strategy — while driving performance and outcomes with a strong sense of accountability. Treat the territory as your business while bringing a strategic lens to where and how we should grow.
Open doors with districts:
Generate pipeline through strategic outreach, networking, conferences, and a strong presence in the education ecosystem.
Lead consultative conversations:
Engage district leaders in meaningful discussions about their math challenges and introduce Innovamat’s research-backed approach.
Collaborate to close:
Partner closely with Math Success, Strategy, and Marketing to deliver compelling demos, pilots, and proposals.
Refine the go-to-market motion:
Identify patterns, develop insights, improve messaging, and help build the playbook for scaling district partnerships across new regions.
Be the face of Innovamat locally:
Represent Innovamat at conferences, events, and district meetings to build credibility, strengthen relationships, and grow our presence in the market.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Entrepreneurial spirit: You create momentum from scratch. You’ve built, shipped, or taken ownership of something meaningful before.
Experience in fast-paced environments: A proven track record of grit, resilience, and performance in another fast paced environment where ownership and results matter (e.g. investment banking, consulting, private equity, tech or early-stage startups).
Founder mentality: You operate beyond your role, improving systems, processes, and outcomes for the broader team. You might be a former founder, a consultant ready to own outcomes, an MBA who prefers execution over theory, or someone from growth/product/strategy/ops who loves closing.
Operator mindset: You combine strategy with execution. You can zoom out to define the plan and zoom in to make it happen.
Closing ability: Experience owning the full sales cycle or consistently delivering results in a high-performance environment.
Team builder: You’re excited to hire, develop, and lead a team. You set a high bar and create environments where people perform at their best.
Resilience: You’re energized by opening doors and navigating complex, multi-stakeholder decision processes.
Relationship intelligence: You build trust with senior stakeholders and understand how institutions make decisions.
Learning mindset: Excited to deeply understand math education and how districts adopt new solutions.
Location: Based in San Francisco and willing to travel ~50%.
WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT
- You’ve helped launch or scale something from 0 to 1
- You take ownership beyond your job description
- You naturally improve systems, strategy, and execution
- You’re curious about education, learning science, and systemic change
- You thrive in high-impact, high-responsibility environments
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
Compensation: OTE 150K, with uncapped earning potential.
401(k) match: 5% company match to support your long-term financial wellbeing.
Comprehensive health benefits: Medical, dental, and vision — we cover 100% of the premium for you.
Work alongside exceptional people: Collaborate with leading educators, mathematicians, and researchers shaping the future of math education.
A high-trust, collaborative team: We value ownership, candor, and genuine teamwork.
Meaningful ownership and visibility: As an early member of the U.S. expansion, your work will directly shape how we grow.
Cross-functional exposure: Work closely with Growth, Strategy, Marketing, and Math Success teams.
Mission-driven work: Be part of a systemic shift in education, transforming how students experience and learn math.
Time to recharge: Enjoy 22+ days of PTO, plus an additional week off during our company-wide holiday shutdown.
Connection & culture: Regular team meetups, team-building activities and an annual summer company offsite.

Which companies sponsor visas for growth associates in California?
Technology companies and high-growth startups are the most active sponsors for growth associate roles in California. Larger employers like Salesforce, Adobe, and Intuit have consistent H-1B sponsorship histories, and many Series B and later-stage venture-backed companies in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor. Sponsorship is most common at companies where growth functions are treated as core product and engineering adjacent roles.
Which visa types are most common for growth associate roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for growth associate positions in California, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree in marketing, data analytics, statistics, or a related field and meet the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already on F-1 OPT, including STEM OPT extensions, can work in these roles before an H-1B is filed. The O-1A is an option for candidates with demonstrated exceptional professional recognition.
Which cities in California have the most growth associate sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area account for the largest concentration of growth associate roles with visa sponsorship in California, driven by the density of technology companies and funded startups in San Jose, Palo Alto, and San Francisco itself. Los Angeles is a secondary hub, particularly in e-commerce, consumer apps, and entertainment technology. San Diego has a smaller but growing presence, largely through biotech-adjacent growth roles.
How to find growth associate visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters growth associate jobs in California specifically to those with visa sponsorship, which removes the need to manually verify each employer's willingness to sponsor. You can browse by city, including San Francisco and Los Angeles, and filter by visa type. Because growth associate roles vary significantly in scope across companies, reviewing each job description carefully on Migrate Mate helps identify whether the role aligns with your background and visa eligibility.
Are there state-specific considerations for growth associates pursuing sponsorship in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are benchmarked to the region where you'll work, and Bay Area prevailing wages for growth and marketing analytics roles are among the highest in the country due to local cost-of-living data. California also has a large international student population from universities like UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC, meaning competition for sponsored roles is significant. Employers familiar with California employment law tend to have more established HR and immigration infrastructure for sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored growth associate jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
