About the team/role
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting and based in San Francisco, CA or Denver, CO, you'll play a strategic, highly visible role within Checkr's Finance Operations (FinOps) organization — shaping how deals are structured and new revenue models come to market while ensuring alignment with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP. You'll lead technical revenue accounting analyses, own the revenue close process, and translate accounting guidance into clear, scalable policies that balance compliance, efficiency, and commercial impact. You'll partner closely with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, and RevOps to influence decisions that directly shape Checkr's continued growth.
- Own technical revenue accounting under ASC 606, serving as subject matter expert for complex revenue recognition matters, including contract assessments, non-standard deal structures, and evolving pricing and product models.
- Lead the revenue accounting close for month-end and quarter-end, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Provide strategic accounting guidance to the business, partnering with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, RevOps, and FP&A to influence deal structures, product launches, and go-to-market initiatives before execution.
- Design, prototype, and ship AI-enabled tools and agents that automate manual work across the quote-to-cash lifecycle, compounding impact within the team and beyond.
- Draft technical accounting memos and maintain SOX-ready documentation, owning key controls and supporting audit readiness across revenue processes as the business scales.
- Lead high-impact revenue initiatives and special projects, applying technical judgment and analytical insight to enable compliant growth and data-driven decision-making.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred; 6+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience (Big 4 plus industry preferred).
- Deep technical expertise in U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, with demonstrated experience evaluating complex customer contracts, non-standard deal structures, and revenue recognition judgments.
- Track record owning revenue close activities with increasing scope, speed, and accuracy, plus strong project ownership leading ambiguous or cross-functional initiatives.
- Demonstrated AI fluency — you've moved past using AI for one-off tasks toward building and shipping tools or agents (e.g., with Claude, Lovable, Cursor, Gemini, or similar) that create leverage for the broader team, with hands-on SQL/BI experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communicator who partners effectively with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Product, RevOps, FP&A, and Engineering — translating technical accounting conclusions for non-technical stakeholders.
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Which companies in California sponsor visas for revenue analysts?
Large technology and media companies account for most revenue analyst sponsorship activity in California. Employers like Salesforce, Google, Meta, Adobe, and Netflix have established immigration programs and a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for analytically focused finance roles. E-commerce and SaaS companies in the Bay Area and Los Angeles are also consistent sponsors for this role.
Which visa types are most common for revenue analyst roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for revenue analysts in California, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field. Candidates with an F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension often work in these roles before their employer files an H-1B petition on their behalf.
Which California cities have the most revenue analyst visa sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and San Jose lead in revenue analyst sponsorship volume, driven by the concentration of SaaS and technology companies in the Bay Area. Los Angeles is a strong second, particularly in entertainment, streaming, and e-commerce. San Diego has a smaller but active cluster of sponsoring employers in biotech and technology.
How to find revenue analyst visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for employers willing to sponsor visas, so you can search revenue analyst roles in California without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. The platform surfaces companies with an active sponsorship history, which is particularly useful in California where hiring volume is high but sponsorship willingness varies by employer.
Are there any California-specific considerations for revenue analyst sponsorship candidates?
California's high concentration of technology and media employers means prevailing wage levels for revenue analyst roles tend to be above the national average, which affects the wage floor employers must meet on H-1B petitions. Several UC system campuses and universities like Stanford also serve as pipelines into revenue analytics roles at Bay Area firms, making OPT-to-H-1B transitions common in this state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored revenue analyst jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
