ABOUT THE ROLE
Replit is the agentic software creation platform that enables anyone to build everything from applications and websites to real businesses using natural language. With millions of users worldwide, Replit is democratizing software development by removing traditional barriers to application creation.
Social media is one of the most important channels in Replit's go-to-market motion — not just for brand awareness, but as a direct driver of user acquisition, product discovery, and community trust. We're looking for the person who will own our social channels end to end.
You'll lead our social media marketing program, defining our voice, managing our owned channels across X, Meta, TikTok, etc., and developing content across each channel that drives awareness of the brand and gets people excited to use the product. You'll have a ringside seat to one of the most interesting moments in software history, working in close collaboration with Marketing, Product Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Creative. This is the right role if you live on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and X, and you're energized by the challenge of building something durable, not just going viral.
- Own and execute Replit's social voice, content pillars, and channel strategy across all social channels
- Execute launches and multi-week arcs (product, research, ecosystem, partnerships) with clear goals and measurable outputs
- Be in the trenches of engagement, managing replies, quote tweets, and relationship-building with major accounts, builders, and media
- Write punchy posts, threads, memes, and explainer content that makes complex ideas exciting and accessible
- Work across marketing, comms, product, sales, engineer, and legal to move fast and ensure accuracy, timing, and risk control
- Track performance (impressions, engagement rate, follower growth, clickthrough, sentiment) and adjust weekly
- Monitor AI narratives; respond quickly to FUD (social media: fear, uncertainty, doubt) and misinformation; coordinate internally on sensitive topics
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of social media experience at a high-growth B2C or beloved consumer tech company, with a clear track record of growing accounts from early stage
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and moving fast with imperfect information — you don't need a 10-slide deck to get started
- AI-native with a demonstrated track record of growing accounts (personal or brand) in the AI or consumer space; you have a portfolio we can actually see that demonstrate your voice, your instincts, and your results
- Elite copywriting: concise, witty, well-timed. You can do memes without being cringe. You understand that a single word can make or break a post.
- Deep platform fluency across X/Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Reddit — including organic growth tactics, not just paid
- Strong narrative instincts: you know how to find the angle that makes people stop scrolling, and how to build on it over time
- Genuine curiosity about agentic AI tools and hands-on experience using them to scale your workflow
- Experience managing rapid response and issues: you've dealt with social media crises and know how to stay calm and strategic under pressure
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- Short-form video creation and production experience
- A meaningful social media following of your own
- An active Replit builder — you've shipped something with the product
- Existing relationships with AI influencers, journalists, podcasters, or community leaders
- Experience at a B2C tech or early-stage startup: you know what it means to build with constraints and high stakes
- Based in or able to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area

Which companies sponsor visas for social media managers in California?
Large technology companies in the Bay Area, including Meta, Google, Apple, and Salesforce, are among the most consistent sponsors for social media manager roles. In Los Angeles, entertainment and media companies such as Warner Bros. Discovery, NBCUniversal, and major streaming platforms also sponsor these positions. Consumer brands and marketing agencies headquartered in California similarly file sponsorship petitions, though sponsorship is more common at larger organizations.
Which visa types are most common for social media manager roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for social media managers in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. Australian citizens may also pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and can be a faster path. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT sometimes use that period to secure employer sponsorship.
Which cities in California have the most social media manager sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles and San Francisco generate the highest volume of social media manager sponsorship opportunities in California. Los Angeles draws demand from entertainment, media, gaming, and influencer-driven consumer brands. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area are driven by technology companies that maintain large marketing and communications teams. San Diego and Sacramento have smaller but active markets, particularly in healthcare, government-adjacent organizations, and regional consumer brands.
How to find social media manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa sponsorship roles, and you can filter directly for social media manager positions in California. The platform surfaces employers with a history of filing sponsorship petitions for marketing and communications roles, saving you from applying to companies that don't sponsor. Focusing your search on mid-to-large companies in Los Angeles and the Bay Area will generally yield the strongest results.
Are there any California-specific considerations for social media manager sponsorship?
California's strong labor protections affect how employers structure H-1B positions, particularly around prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor. Social media manager roles in the Bay Area and Los Angeles tend to be benchmarked to higher prevailing wage levels given local market rates. California also has a dense pipeline of international marketing graduates from USC, UCLA, and UC Berkeley, which means sponsored candidates often compete with locally based OPT holders already familiar to these employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored social media manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
