Which visa types are most common for K-12 education roles in Colorado?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly sponsored category for K-12 educators in Colorado, particularly for licensed teachers in specialty subjects like mathematics, science, and special education. The J-1 Exchange Visitor visa is also widely used, with many Colorado districts participating in cultural exchange teacher programs that bring international educators into classrooms on a structured, program-sponsored basis.
Which companies sponsor visas for K-12 education roles in Colorado?
Colorado's largest public school districts are the primary visa sponsors for K-12 education roles. Denver Public Schools, Jefferson County Public Schools, Cherry Creek School District, and Aurora Public Schools have histories of sponsoring international educators, particularly for hard-to-fill positions in bilingual education, special education, and STEM subjects. Charter networks operating in the Denver metro also periodically sponsor qualified international candidates.
How to find k 12 education visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored K-12 education roles in Colorado. You can filter directly by state and role to surface districts and schools that have sponsored international educators. This is more targeted than general job searches because Migrate Mate focuses specifically on employers open to sponsoring work visas, saving you time filtering out roles that won't support international candidates.
Which cities in Colorado have the most K-12 education sponsorship jobs?
The Denver metro area, including Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, and Englewood, concentrates the highest volume of K-12 sponsorship opportunities given the size of its school districts. Colorado Springs has a growing educator market through Colorado Springs School District 11 and Fountain-Fort Carson. Greeley and Pueblo also see demand, particularly for bilingual and English language acquisition teachers serving large Spanish-speaking student populations.
What should international educators know before applying to Colorado K-12 sponsorship roles?
Colorado requires all K-12 teachers to hold a valid Colorado educator license, which means international candidates must have their foreign credentials evaluated for equivalency before a district can move forward with sponsorship. The Colorado Department of Education oversees licensure, and districts typically expect candidates to initiate this process independently. STEM and special education license areas are designated shortage fields in Colorado, which can improve a candidate's sponsorship prospects considerably.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored k 12 education jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
