Which companies sponsor visas for investment banking analysts in Illinois?
Chicago-based and nationally headquartered firms with a presence in Illinois that have historically filed H-1B petitions for investment banking analysts include JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Moelis & Company, William Blair, Baird, and Houlihan Lokey. Boutique advisory firms active in Chicago's middle-market sector also appear in DOL disclosure data as sponsors, though sponsorship practices vary by firm and hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for investment banking analyst roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for investment banking analysts in Illinois. The role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, or a related field. Candidates already holding Optional Practical Training authorization through U.S. universities also represent a significant portion of the analyst pipeline at Illinois-based firms.
Which cities in Illinois have the most investment banking analyst sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of investment banking analyst sponsorship opportunities in Illinois. The Loop, River North, and Fulton Market neighborhoods host most major bank offices and boutique advisory firms. Outside Chicago, Illinois does not have a significant secondary market for investment banking analyst roles, making proximity to or willingness to work in Chicago effectively a prerequisite.
How to find investment banking analyst visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it a practical starting point for investment banking analyst roles in Illinois. You can search by role and state to surface Chicago-area positions at firms with documented sponsorship activity. Pairing Migrate Mate with direct outreach to recruiting teams at target banks improves your chances, since some analyst-level openings are filled before broad public listings appear.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for investment banking analysts in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose additional state-level visa requirements, but Chicago's concentration of financial services firms means H-1B prevailing wage determinations reflect a competitive local market. Analysts hired through university recruiting pipelines at University of Chicago, Northwestern, or University of Illinois are common targets for sponsorship. Illinois employers must comply with the same DOL Labor Condition Application requirements as firms elsewhere, certifying that sponsored workers receive prevailing wages for the Chicago metropolitan area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored investment banking analyst jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
