Which companies sponsor visas for machine learning roles in Kansas?
The most active sponsors for machine learning roles in Kansas include Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in the Kansas City metro, Garmin in Olathe, and T-Mobile's regional operations. Financial services firms and agricultural technology companies are also hiring ML talent. Sponsorship is not guaranteed at any employer, and willingness to sponsor can change based on hiring conditions and individual role requirements.
Which visa types are most common for machine learning roles in Kansas?
Machine learning engineers and data scientists in Kansas most commonly work on H-1B visas, since these roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, statistics, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with extraordinary ability may qualify for O-1 visas. Those transferring within a multinational company may be eligible for L-1 visa classification.
Which cities in Kansas have the most machine learning sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro, particularly Overland Park and Olathe on the Kansas side, has the highest concentration of machine learning sponsorship activity, driven by technology, healthcare IT, and telecommunications employers. Wichita is a secondary market with growing demand in aerospace data systems. Lawrence, home to the University of Kansas, occasionally produces spillover opportunities through research-adjacent companies.
How to find machine learning visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa sponsorship roles. You can filter machine learning jobs by Kansas to see positions where employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. This saves significant time compared to manually researching each employer's sponsorship track record, which is especially important given how selective the Kansas ML job market is outside the Kansas City corridor.
Are there state-specific considerations for machine learning roles in Kansas?
Kansas does not have a state-level visa program, so all sponsorship follows federal H-1B and other federal visa frameworks. Machine learning roles here are subject to Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, and employers must certify wages meet the standard for the Overland Park, Wichita, or Lawrence metropolitan areas, which are designated separately. University of Kansas and Kansas State University research programs can sometimes lead to OPT-eligible positions for recent graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored machine learning jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
