Which companies sponsor visas for stage managers in Kansas?
Performing arts organizations are the primary sponsors of stage manager visas in Kansas. Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Starlight Theatre, and Theatre Wichita have histories of hiring production staff. Regional opera companies and university performing arts programs at the University of Kansas and Kansas State University also sponsor stage managers periodically, though sponsorship is not guaranteed and depends on specific production needs and budget cycles.
Which visa types are most common for stage manager roles in Kansas?
Stage managers working in Kansas most commonly use the H-1B visa, which requires demonstrating that the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, such as theatre production or stage management. The O-1B visa is another pathway for stage managers with extraordinary ability, demonstrated through notable production credits or awards. Arts organizations may also use the P-2 visa for managers working under reciprocal exchange agreements.
Which cities in Kansas have the most stage manager sponsorship jobs?
Kansas City is the strongest market for stage manager jobs with visa sponsorship in Kansas, anchored by its professional theatre scene and large-scale outdoor venue Starlight Theatre. Wichita is the second hub, supported by Theatre Wichita and a growing arts community. Lawrence, home to the University of Kansas School of the Arts, also generates stage management opportunities, particularly within academic production programs that occasionally sponsor international hires.
How to find stage manager visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa sponsorship roles in the U.S., including stage manager positions in Kansas. You can filter by state and role to see which Kansas employers are actively hiring and have a track record of sponsoring work visas. Searching on Migrate Mate lets you focus exclusively on opportunities where sponsorship is part of the employer's hiring practice, saving significant time compared to sifting through general postings.
Are there state-specific considerations for stage managers seeking visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not have a state-level visa or arts sponsorship program, so stage managers must rely entirely on employer-sponsored federal visa categories. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wage requirements that Kansas employers must meet when filing an H-1B Labor Condition Application, and wages for stage managers in smaller Kansas markets may differ from national averages. Stage managers with credits from regional theatre associations or academic institutions tend to have stronger sponsorship cases because their credentials clearly support the specialty occupation standard.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored stage manager jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
