About Your Role
As a Produce Clerk at Columbus IGA, you are responsible for maintaining a fresh, well-stocked, and visually appealing produce department while delivering excellent customer service. You play a key role in ensuring product quality, proper rotation, and cleanliness standards are consistently met. This position requires attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and a commitment to providing customers with high-quality fruits and vegetables in a welcoming and organized environment. You support daily operations through teamwork, efficient stocking practices, and adherence to food safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

Product Quality and Freshness
Maintains high standards for product quality by inspecting, rotating, and culling produce to ensure freshness, proper handling, and adherence to company expectations.

Stocking and Merchandising
Stocks and organizes produce displays to ensure products are well-presented, properly rotated, and consistently available while supporting visually appealing department standards.

Customer Service and Assistance
Provides courteous and knowledgeable service by assisting customers with product selection, answering questions, and contributing to a positive shopping experience.

Sanitation and Food Safety Compliance
Follows food safety and sanitation standards by maintaining a clean work area, properly handling products, and adhering to all applicable guidelines and store procedures.

Teamwork and Operational Support
Works collaboratively with team members and store leadership to support daily operations, manage workload priorities, and maintain an efficient and safe department environment.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Basic knowledge of or ability to learn produce handling, rotation, and quality standards.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to store policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly related to product freshness and presentation.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness and availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position operates in a fast-paced retail grocery environment. Team members frequently interact with customers and coworkers and are expected to maintain a positive, helpful, and respectful attitude. Work areas may include the sales floor, stockroom, coolers, freezers, deli, or bakery, depending on the role.

Work Schedule: Requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store needs.
