INTRODUCTION
Our team is building a global platform for illiquid asset management, running on Azure and Kubernetes, with a modern React frontend and backend stack spanning C# and Python APIs. Our system interfaces heavily with SQL server, including legacy business logic embedded in stored procedures.
We are looking for a Senior Front-end Engineer who amplifies their output using AI tools, and who has experience building financial or highly-data intensive enterprise systems in cloud-native environments. This is a frontend-primary role for an engineer who can rapidly design, build, and ship high-quality UI systems in a complex, domain-heavy environment.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Lead development of complex, data-intensive UI features using React and TypeScript
- Build scalable, maintainable component architectures and design systems
- Translate complex backend and financial logic (including SQL-heavy workflows) into intuitive user experiences
- Collaborate closely with backend teams (C#, Python APIs) to design clean, efficient API contracts
- Optimize frontend performance, state management, and rendering efficiency
- Operate as an AI-augmented engineer, using modern AI tools to significantly increase your development speed and quality – while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals
- Use AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) to scaffold components and accelerate day-to-day development
- Pilot and orchestrate AI agents to handle multi-step engineering tasks, refactor and modularize codebases efficiently using AI assistance
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on UI/UX flows, produce and maintain automated test coverage with AI-generated support
- Debug performance and state issues using AI-driven workflows, know when AI helps and when to write it yourself
- Build interfaces aligned to real-world financial and investment workflows
- Design for complex use cases such as portfolio management, asset tracking, valuation or reporting while reducing friction in data-heavy user journeys
- Optimize for usability, speed, and minimal cognitive load while partnering with product and domain experts to eliminate workflow bottlenecks
- Build and operate effectively in Azure-hosted, Kubernetes-based environments
- Understand how frontend systems interact with containerized backend services
- Work within distributed architectures and understand performance implications end-to-end
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Traits:
- Five (5) + years of frontend engineering experience
- Deep expertise in React and modern frontend architecture
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript
- Strong proficiency in State management (Redux, Zustand, or similar)
- Experience with API integration (REST, GraphQL is a plus)
- Experience building data-heavy, enterprise-grade applications
- Experience building financial platforms or data-intensive systems, such as: asset management platforms, trading systems, portfolio analytics tools, and risk, valuation or reporting systems
- Strong understanding of complex domain workflows and data models
- Ability to translate domain complexity into clear, usable UI
- Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem (DevOps, pipelines, cloud-hosted environments)
- Practical, hands-on experience using AI tools in your daily development workflow
- Ability to pilot AI agents and orchestrate multi-step AI-assisted tasks and a proven track record of shipping production-quality code with AI assistance
- Strong ability to work across complex systems and ambiguous requirements and collaborate with backend teams
- Strong UX intuition for complex, data-driven applications
- Familiarity with C# and/or Python backend systems and experience building or maintaining design systems is a plus

Which companies sponsor visas for frontend engineers in New York?
Large financial and tech employers lead H-1B sponsorship for frontend engineers in New York. JPMorgan Chase, Bloomberg, Spotify, Etsy, and Peloton have consistent LCA filing histories for frontend roles. Beyond those, a significant number of filings come from mid-size fintech and media companies headquartered in Manhattan. DOL LCA disclosure data is publicly searchable and shows which employers filed petitions in recent fiscal years.
Which visa types are most common for frontend engineer roles in New York?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for frontend engineers in New York. It requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science or software engineering, and subjects applicants to the annual lottery. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA, which has no cap and no lottery. Australians with qualifying degrees may be eligible for the E-3 visa.
Which cities in New York have the most frontend engineer sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming majority of frontend engineer sponsorship activity in New York, driven by its concentration of financial institutions, media companies, and tech startups. Brooklyn's growing tech scene, particularly around DUMBO and Industry City, adds a smaller but meaningful share. Outside the city, sponsorship opportunities are limited, though some larger employers maintain satellite offices in Buffalo and Albany.
How to find frontend engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can browse frontend engineer roles in New York without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Filtering by employer LCA filing history helps prioritize companies with a demonstrated record of H-1B sponsorship for frontend roles. Migrate Mate also surfaces roles at fintech, media, and enterprise tech employers that are among the most active sponsors in the New York market.
What should frontend engineers know about prevailing wages and industry hubs in New York?
New York City falls into one of the highest prevailing wage tiers nationally for frontend engineering roles, which means employers must meet elevated wage thresholds under the H-1B Labor Condition Application. This reflects the city's cost of living rather than special generosity. The fintech corridor along Hudson Yards and Midtown, along with advertising technology and media clusters in lower Manhattan, represent the densest concentration of sponsoring employers for frontend engineers in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored frontend engineer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
