Which companies sponsor visas for user experience designers in New York?
Large financial institutions, media companies, and technology firms in New York have established track records of sponsoring visas for user experience designers. Employers like IBM, Citigroup, Bloomberg, Spotify, and major consulting firms such as Accenture and Deloitte Digital regularly file H-1B visa petitions for UX roles. Startups in the fintech and healthtech sectors also sponsor, though less consistently than enterprise-scale employers.
Which visa types are most common for user experience designer roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for user experience designers in New York, as UX design qualifies as a specialty occupation when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline. The O-1A is an alternative for designers with demonstrated extraordinary ability. Australians may also be eligible for the E-3 visa.
Which cities in New York have the most user experience designer sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the large majority of user experience designer sponsorship jobs in New York, driven by finance, media, and enterprise technology employers concentrated in Midtown and Lower Manhattan. Brooklyn has a secondary concentration, particularly in DUMBO and the Brooklyn Navy Yard tech corridor. Buffalo and Albany have smaller but emerging UX markets tied to healthcare systems and state government technology initiatives.
How to find user experience designer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and filters user experience designer roles in New York by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the work of identifying which employers are open to sponsoring. Because UX design spans finance, media, healthcare, and technology in New York, Migrate Mate's role-specific filtering helps you focus on employers who have actively sponsored similar positions rather than applying broadly.
Are there any state-specific considerations for user experience designers seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York City's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules tend to reflect the city's high cost of living, meaning H-1B petitions for UX roles must meet elevated wage thresholds compared to other states. New York is also home to strong university pipelines through programs at NYU, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts, which means competition for entry-level sponsored roles can be significant among OPT-eligible graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored user experience designer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
