Which companies sponsor visas for infrastructure engineers in Texas?
Large technology and energy companies dominate infrastructure engineer sponsorship in Texas. AT&T and Texas Instruments are active sponsors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, while ExxonMobil and Chevron Phillips Chemical hire infrastructure engineers in Houston. Dell Technologies and Apple sponsor roles in Austin. Hyperscale cloud providers including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft also maintain significant infrastructure teams across Texas with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories.
Which visa types are most common for infrastructure engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for infrastructure engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications. L-1B transfers are also used when an engineer relocates from a multinational company's overseas office to a Texas location.
Which cities in Texas have the most infrastructure engineer sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas for infrastructure engineer sponsorship volume, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, telecom firms, and financial services companies. Houston is strong for infrastructure roles tied to the energy sector and large enterprise IT departments. Austin has grown significantly due to tech company expansions and data center investments. San Antonio also has emerging opportunities linked to cybersecurity firms and military-adjacent technology contractors.
How to find infrastructure engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters infrastructure engineer jobs in Texas specifically to roles where employers have demonstrated visa sponsorship activity, saving you from sorting through listings that won't consider international candidates. You can browse current openings filtered by Texas location and infrastructure engineering role type directly on Migrate Mate, which is built for international job seekers navigating the U.S. sponsorship process.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for infrastructure engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations and overall compensation comparisons during the Labor Condition Application process. The state's large concentration of energy, defense, and semiconductor employers means infrastructure engineers with OT, cloud networking, or industrial control systems experience are particularly competitive. Texas universities including UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice University also produce strong domestic pipelines, so international candidates benefit from emphasizing specialized or niche infrastructure skills.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored infrastructure engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
