Which companies sponsor visas for robotics engineers in Texas?
Several large employers in Texas have a documented history of sponsoring visas for robotics engineers. These include Lockheed Martin and Raytheon in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, NASA contractor networks around Houston, and semiconductor firms like Texas Instruments and NXP Semiconductors. Austin-based companies in autonomous systems and industrial automation, including smaller robotics startups, also file sponsorships regularly.
Which visa types are most common for robotics engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for robotics engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may explore the O-1A. Australian citizens have access to the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is often faster for qualifying Texas employers.
Which cities in Texas have the most robotics engineer sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads in robotics sponsorship tied to energy automation, aerospace, and medical device manufacturing, with significant activity from companies supporting NASA's Johnson Space Center. Austin is the fastest-growing hub, driven by semiconductor and autonomous vehicle firms. Dallas-Fort Worth concentrates defense and advanced manufacturing roles. San Antonio has a smaller but emerging market linked to military technology and cybersecurity-adjacent robotics work.
How to find robotics engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters robotics engineer roles in Texas by employers that sponsor visas, saving significant research time. Because sponsorship willingness varies widely across Texas employers, even within the same industry, using a platform like Migrate Mate that surfaces verified sponsoring companies is more efficient than searching general job boards and manually vetting each listing.
Are there any Texas-specific factors robotics engineers should know before applying for sponsored roles?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons that employers must meet under H-1B Labor Condition Application requirements. The state's concentration of defense contractors means many senior robotics roles require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship timelines for some visa categories. University of Texas Austin and Texas A&M produce strong local pipelines, so international candidates benefit from highlighting specialized skills in areas like autonomous systems or surgical robotics.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored robotics engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
