Which companies in Texas sponsor visas for software engineer interns?
Several large employers in Texas have established records of sponsoring visas for software engineer interns. Dell Technologies in Round Rock, Texas Instruments in Dallas, IBM in Austin, AT&T in Dallas, and Amazon Web Services facilities across the state regularly hire international interns. Semiconductor, cloud computing, and enterprise software companies tend to have the infrastructure and legal teams needed to support intern sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for software engineer interns in Texas?
Most international software engineer interns in Texas work under F-1 OPT or CPT authorization, which allows students enrolled at U.S. universities to work without employer-sponsored visa petitions. For degree holders already outside academia, the H-1B visa is the primary employer-sponsored option, though its annual cap and lottery process mean sponsorship for short-term intern roles is less common outside large companies with consistent hiring pipelines.
Which cities in Texas have the most software engineer intern sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for software engineer intern sponsorship activity, driven by its dense concentration of technology companies and proximity to the University of Texas. Dallas and its surrounding suburbs, including Plano and Richardson, host major corporate tech campuses. Houston has a growing presence through energy-tech and aerospace employers. San Antonio is smaller but has notable cybersecurity and defense contracting activity relevant to software engineering interns.
How to find software engineer intern visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates looking for visa sponsorship opportunities, including software engineer intern roles in Texas. You can filter by state and role to surface employers with active sponsorship histories. Because many internship listings don't explicitly advertise sponsorship, searching a platform focused on this helps narrow results to companies that have a demonstrated track record of supporting international candidates.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for software engineer intern visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons but not visa eligibility. More relevant is the state's university pipeline: UT Austin, Texas A&M, Rice, and UT Dallas produce large international student cohorts, which means Texas employers are generally familiar with CPT and OPT work authorization. Companies in Austin's tech corridor and Dallas's corporate hub tend to have dedicated HR processes for international intern onboarding.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineer intern jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
