Microsoft Dynamics 365 Technical Consultant
Role Overview
NTT DATA's Client is looking for a hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Technical Consultant / Developer with proven experience in decoupling applications from Dynamics CRM and migrating CRM backend capabilities to Azure-native services.
This is not a traditional Dynamics CRM configuration role. The consultant will assess existing Dynamics CRM plug-ins, workflows, integrations, database dependencies, and attachments, and redesign them using appropriate Microsoft Azure services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess Dynamics CRM 9.x on-premises architecture, customizations, plug-ins, workflows, integrations, and data dependencies.
- Analyze existing business logic and determine whether components should be migrated, redesigned, consolidated, or retired.
- Convert Dynamics CRM plug-ins into Azure Functions, .NET APIs, Container Apps, or event-driven services.
- Convert real-time/background workflows and custom workflow activities into Azure Functions, Durable Functions, Logic Apps, or Service Bus-based processing.
- Design REST APIs using .NET/C# and Azure API Management.
- Implement asynchronous processing using Azure Service Bus queues/topics, including retries, dead-letter handling, and idempotency.
- Migrate CRM entity data to Azure SQL and annotation/attachment content to Azure Blob Storage.
- Support phased coexistence between Dynamics CRM and Azure during migration.
- Implement security using Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identities, Key Vault, RBAC, and Private Endpoints.
- Support testing, data reconciliation, performance testing, cutover, rollback, and production stabilization.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of Dynamics CRM/Dynamics 365 CE technical development experience.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of CRM 9.x on-premises, plug-ins, workflows, CRM SDK, Organization Service, Web API, and execution pipeline.
- Strong C#, .NET, SQL, and REST API development skills.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Functions, Durable Functions, Service Bus, API Management, Logic Apps, Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Application Insights, and Azure DevOps.
- Experience with large-volume data migration and integration.
- Most importantly, candidates must demonstrate practical project experience where Dynamics CRM backend services, plug-ins, workflows, or business processes were successfully migrated or re-engineered using Azure-native services.

Which companies sponsor visas for technical consultants in Virginia?
Federal IT contractors and consulting firms dominate technical consultant sponsorship in Virginia. Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, Deloitte, Accenture Federal Services, and ManTech are among the most active sponsors. These firms operate large delivery centers in Northern Virginia and consistently file H-1B visa petitions for technical consultant roles across systems integration, cloud, and cybersecurity practices.
Which visa types are most common for technical consultant roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical consultants in Virginia, covering roles in systems architecture, cloud engineering, and IT strategy that require at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. L-1B visas appear frequently at large multinational consulting firms transferring specialists into Virginia offices. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying consultant roles.
Which cities in Virginia have the most technical consultant sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly McLean, Herndon, Reston, and Arlington, accounts for the largest share of technical consultant sponsorship activity in the state. This corridor is home to the headquarters or major offices of most large federal contractors and consulting firms. Richmond has a smaller but growing market, primarily through financial services firms and state government IT contractors.
How to find technical consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse technical consultant openings in Virginia without sifting through roles that don't sponsor. You can narrow results to Virginia and target the federal contracting and consulting firms that sponsor most consistently. This is especially useful given how many technical consultant postings in Northern Virginia are tied to clearance or contractor environments.
Are there any Virginia-specific considerations for technical consultant visa sponsorship?
Many technical consultant roles in Northern Virginia support federal government clients and require security clearances. Clearance eligibility is generally limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, which can restrict the range of projects available to visa holders at some firms. Candidates on H-1B or other nonimmigrant visas are typically placed on commercial or unclassified work streams. Virginia's proximity to major universities like Virginia Tech and George Mason also creates active university-to-consulting pipelines that some employers use for sponsorship hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical consultant jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
