Which government employers in Washington DC sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas?
Federal contractors and consulting firms with large DC footprints are among the most active H-1B1 visa Singapore sponsors in the government sector. Organizations such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, Deloitte Government Services, and MITRE have consistent LCA filing histories for Singapore nationals. Direct federal agencies can hire H-1B1 holders through approved mechanisms, though contractor roles account for the majority of available sponsorships.
Which areas of Washington DC have the most government H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentration of government H-1B1 Singapore roles sits within the District itself, particularly around the corridors near Capitol Hill, the National Mall federal agencies, and the K Street consulting hub. The broader National Capital Region, including adjacent Northern Virginia and Maryland suburbs where many contractors are headquartered, also generates significant sponsorship activity, though the DC proper addresses dominate LCA filings for government-classified positions.
What types of government roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Roles must meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning they require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In the government sector, positions in policy analysis, budget analysis, information technology, cybersecurity, program management, intelligence analysis, and international affairs commonly qualify. Research and scientific roles with agencies or their contractors also appear frequently in LCA filings for Singapore nationals in DC.
How do I find government H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs in Washington DC?
Migrate Mate filters government sector jobs by visa type, allowing you to search specifically for Washington DC roles where employers have active H-1B1 Singapore LCA filing history. This lets you focus applications on organizations already familiar with the H-1B1 Singapore category rather than contacting employers cold. Filtering by government and public sector on Migrate Mate surfaces contractors and agencies with verified sponsorship track records in the District.
Are there any Washington DC-specific considerations for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship in government roles?
Washington DC government roles, particularly with contractors holding security clearances or working on classified programs, add a layer of complexity beyond standard H-1B1 requirements. Security clearance eligibility for non-U.S. citizens varies by agency and contract, and some roles may require citizenship. Singapore nationals pursuing government H-1B1 positions should confirm clearance requirements with each employer, as this affects which roles are practically accessible regardless of visa sponsorship availability.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Singapore government jobs in Washington DC?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
