We’re proud of our employees and our culture, and have been recognized by Accounting Today as one of the “Best Accounting Firms to Work For” and by Puget Sound Business Journal as one of “Washington’s Best Workplaces.”
- Our interns will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and industries, enabling them to gain comprehensive exposure to various business sectors. This approach aligns with our commitment to fostering a well-rounded skill set in our interns.
- They will experience the real day-to-day life of a tax professional and will have opportunities to learn from senior associates, managers and principals how roles change as careers progress.
- Interns will engage in early and frequent interactions with all levels of professionals at Sweeney Conrad, including principals and managers. This hands-on experience is crucial for their professional development, allowing them to build relationships with key stakeholders within our organization and the clients we serve.
- Our interns will benefit from personalized career development initiatives and mentorship programs where they will reflect on both positive outcomes and opportunities for development. This support system is designed to guide interns through their internship, offering guidance, answering questions, and aiding in their overall professional growth.
- To enhance their technical skills and leadership capabilities, interns will participate in company-sponsored training programs conducted by industry leaders within our international network. These programs are integral to the continuous development of our interns and preparing them for future challenges.
Our interns work with members of the firm to provide closely held companies and high net worth individuals with accounting services that meet their present needs and help them secure a prosperous future. Which accounting companies sponsor J-1 visas in Washington?
Washington's largest J-1 accounting sponsors include the Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all of which maintain significant Seattle-area offices. Large tech employers such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing also sponsor J-1 exchange visitors in finance and accounting roles. Regional banks, healthcare systems like Providence and UW Medicine, and public accounting firms serving the Pacific Rim also participate in J-1 exchange programs for accounting professionals.
Which cities in Washington have the most accounting J-1 sponsorship jobs?
Seattle holds the highest concentration of accounting J-1 sponsorship opportunities in Washington, driven by its dense cluster of corporate headquarters and professional services firms. Bellevue and Redmond, home to Microsoft and a growing tech corridor, offer additional openings in finance and internal audit functions. Tacoma and Spokane have a smaller share of opportunities, primarily with regional accounting firms, government contractors, and healthcare organizations.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for J-1 sponsorship?
J-1 sponsorship in accounting is most common for roles that align with a recognized trainee or intern category under an approved exchange program sponsor. Positions in audit, tax compliance, financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls frequently qualify. The role must provide structured training and professional development beyond routine duties. Employers typically work with a designated J-1 program sponsor organization to confirm each position meets Department of State exchange visitor program requirements.
How do I find accounting J-1 sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters accounting J-1 sponsorship jobs in Washington by employer, city, and role type. Rather than sorting through general listings, you can search verified sponsoring employers in Washington's accounting sector directly. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application filing history so you can identify which employers have an active track record of supporting J-1 and other visa categories for accounting professionals.
Are there any state-specific considerations for J-1 accounting sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects compensation structuring and can be relevant when accounting employers discuss total compensation with J-1 exchange visitors. Washington's significant volume of international trade and Pacific Rim business relationships means some accounting roles specifically value multilingual candidates with knowledge of cross-border tax or regulatory frameworks. J-1 holders should also confirm Washington state CPA licensure requirements if the role is expected to lead toward professional certification during or after the exchange period.
