Which companies sponsor visas for product designers in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, and Expedia are among the most consistent H-1B sponsors for product designers in Washington. Smaller Seattle-based companies including Zillow, Redfin, and Tableau (now part of Salesforce) have also filed LCAs for design roles. Enterprise tech employers in the Puget Sound region tend to have established immigration programs and dedicated HR teams experienced in sponsoring international design talent.
Which visa types are most common for product designer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product designers in Washington, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, or industrial design. The O-1A is an option for designers with recognized awards, published work, or significant industry contributions. Some designers from Australia also pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is far less competitive than the H-1B.
Which cities in Washington have the most product designer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle accounts for the majority of product designer sponsorship jobs in Washington, driven by its dense concentration of technology companies. Redmond is the second most active city, anchored by Microsoft's global headquarters. Bellevue and Kirkland have seen growing design hiring as Amazon and several mid-size tech firms have expanded campuses there. Outside the greater Seattle metro, sponsorship opportunities for designers are limited.
How to find product designer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters product designer roles in Washington specifically by visa sponsorship, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who won't support international candidates. The platform covers companies across Seattle, Redmond, and Bellevue that have an active track record of sponsoring design roles. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate gives you a focused list rather than a general job board where sponsorship intent is rarely disclosed upfront.
Are there any Washington-specific factors product designers should know about for visa sponsorship?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage benchmarks employers cite in Labor Condition Applications since total compensation can differ from other states. The University of Washington's Human Centered Design and Engineering program produces a steady pipeline of local graduates, meaning international candidates benefit from targeting employers large enough to hire beyond that pool. Washington's tech sector also has a relatively high concentration of design-forward product companies compared to most other states.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product designer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
