Target industries with established sponsorship track records
Aerospace, defense, automotive, and medical device companies sponsor V&V engineers most consistently. These industries have complex regulatory requirements that demand credentialed engineers, making them far more willing to navigate the H-1B process than general tech employers.
Tie your degree directly to the role in every application
H-1B specialty occupation approval depends on your degree matching the position. Explicitly connect your engineering or computer science degree to V&V methodologies in your resume and cover letter to make the USCIS adjudicator's job straightforward.
Highlight domain-specific certifications alongside your degree
Certifications in ISO 26262, IEC 62304, or DO-178C signal regulatory expertise that employers actively need. These credentials strengthen your H-1B petition by demonstrating specialized knowledge beyond a generalist engineering background.
Prioritize employers who have filed LCAs for V&V roles before
Employers with prior Labor Condition Application filings for verification or validation roles already understand the process. Repeat sponsors move faster and face fewer internal approvals, which matters most if you're racing an OPT or grace period deadline.
Apply before the H-1B registration window closes in March
USCIS opens H-1B registration annually in March for an approximately two-week window. Your employer cannot file without a selected registration. Missing this window means waiting another full year, so start employer conversations months in advance.
Browse Migrate Mate for roles already open to sponsorship
Not every V&V job posting makes sponsorship eligibility clear upfront. Migrate Mate filters specifically for employers willing to sponsor, saving you the time of applying to roles where visa support was never on the table to begin with.

Find Verification And Validation Engineer JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Verification and Validation Engineer role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes. V&V Engineering meets USCIS's specialty occupation standard because the role normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, or software engineering. Employers in regulated industries like aerospace and medical devices routinely sponsor these roles, and USCIS has consistently approved H-1B petitions for this job title.
What degree do I need for an employer to sponsor me as a V&V Engineer?
Most sponsoring employers require a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field. The degree must align with the specific domain, so a systems engineering degree supports an automotive V&V role more cleanly than an unrelated discipline. A three-year Australian or international bachelor's is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree.
Which visa types are available to V&V Engineers beyond the H-1B?
Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and far less competition than the H-1B. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN status. Engineers with an extraordinary ability track record may be eligible for O-1A. Each path has different employer obligations and timelines, so matching the right visa to your nationality and experience level matters.
How competitive is H-1B sponsorship for V&V Engineers specifically?
V&V Engineers fare better than many other roles because they're concentrated in industries, such as defense and medical devices, where employers have deep sponsorship experience and genuine hiring urgency. General H-1B selection rates run around 25%, but your actual odds depend on employer type, whether they pursue cap-exempt filing, and your registration year. Employers with multiple registrations in your name improve selection probability.
Where can I find V&V Engineer jobs that explicitly offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the best starting point. It's built specifically for international candidates and filters for employers actively willing to sponsor work visas, which eliminates the guesswork of applying to roles where sponsorship was never realistic. V&V roles in aerospace, automotive safety, and medical device compliance appear regularly on the platform.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Verification And Validation Engineer jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
