AI ML Intern Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai ml intern in Indiana?
The most direct path is enrollment in a computer science, data science, or electrical engineering program at an Indiana university, since most Indiana employers require active student status. Purdue University, Indiana University, and Butler University all have career centers and employer partnership programs that connect students to AI and ML internship recruiting cycles. Building a public portfolio of machine learning projects on GitHub and completing recognized online certifications in deep learning or data engineering significantly strengthens an application.
Which companies hire ai ml interns in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring ai ml interns in Indiana include Amentum, Aptiv, and Dauch, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's life sciences corridor and growing technology sector mean that pharmaceutical, logistics, and enterprise software companies are among the most consistent sources of AI and ML internship openings.
Which Indiana cities have the most ai ml intern jobs?
Lafayette, Indianapolis, and Indiana account for the largest share of ai ml intern openings in Indiana. Indianapolis leads because it is home to major corporate headquarters in healthcare technology and financial services, while West Lafayette benefits from Purdue University's deep industry partnerships that bring research-aligned internships in robotics, data science, and computer vision directly to the campus area.
Are there remote ai ml intern jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than most fields, since AI and ML work is largely computational and can be performed from any location with a stable internet connection. About 14% of ai ml intern openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broad employer comfort with distributed technical teams. Model development, data pipeline work, and research analysis are the tasks most commonly approved for fully remote delivery.
How can I get hired as a ai ml intern in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying to structured co-op and internship programs run by large Indiana employers before completing a full degree. Eli Lilly's technology intern cohort, Salesforce's Futureforce program in Indianapolis, and Indiana University's research assistant roles are open to students early in their studies. Completing one strong end-to-end machine learning project, even on a public dataset, and demonstrating it clearly in an interview tends to outweigh a thin resume in this field.
Where can I find and apply to ai ml intern jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to ai ml intern jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your skills and availability, and apply directly through each listing without any additional steps required on the platform.
