Experience working with multimodal models, agentic systems, and/or diverse languages and locales
Experience with compliance and regulatory needs in the AI space, specifically regarding child safety, clinical/health applications, or companionship chatbots
Experience conducting large scale benchmarking across models and capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
Develop metrics for the evaluation of safety and fairness risks inherent to generative models and Gen-AI features.
Design datasets, identify data needs, and implement creative solutions to scale and expand data coverage through human and synthetic generation methods.
Develop sampling strategies and combine human annotation with auto-grading to deliver high-quality, high-confidence insights at a fast pace and large scale.
Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines, collaborating cross-functionally to execute end-to-end safety evaluations.
Drive operational excellence by automating manual workflows and optimizing evaluation velocity to meet rapid product release cycles.
Distill complex project findings into actionable insights for product engineering teams and safety policy development.
Work with highly-sensitive content, including exposure to offensive and controversial material.

AI ML Intern Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai ml intern in Massachusetts?
The path to an ai ml intern role in Massachusetts runs through a bachelor's or master's program in computer science, data science, or a related field at one of the state's many research universities. Massachusetts requires no state-issued license for this role. Employers look for coursework in machine learning and statistics, completed projects on platforms like GitHub, and research experience gained through university labs at institutions such as MIT, Harvard, or Northeastern.
Which companies hire ai ml interns in Massachusetts?
Companies currently hiring ai ml interns in Massachusetts include Novo, Apple, and Tempus, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Massachusetts's deep concentration of defense contractors, hospital systems, and venture-backed AI startups means intern openings appear across a wider range of industries than in most other states.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most ai ml intern jobs?
Boston, Cambridge, and Salem lead Massachusetts for ai ml intern openings. Boston and Cambridge dominate because of their dense cluster of research hospitals, university spin-offs, and technology companies, while Burlington and Waltham draw demand from established defense and enterprise software employers anchored along the Route 128 corridor.
Are there remote ai ml intern jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 57% of ai ml intern openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on model development and data analysis that travels well. The most fully remote positions tend to focus on data pipeline work and model prototyping rather than roles requiring access to proprietary lab infrastructure.
How can I get hired as a ai ml intern in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured internship programs at Massachusetts research hospitals or large tech employers, where cohort-based programs regularly accept students who have coursework but limited professional experience. Mass General Brigham, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and the MathWorks all run new-grad and intern pipelines that value strong academic projects over prior work history. A well-documented GitHub portfolio and one completed Kaggle competition or university capstone project give candidates a concrete edge when professional experience is thin.
Where can I find and apply to ai ml intern jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to ai ml intern jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings in one place. Search the listings for roles that fit your background, then apply directly to the ones that match your skills and availability.
