Architect Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a architect job in Seattle?
Focus on Seattle's commercial development, tech campus, and public infrastructure sectors, where hiring is most active. Firms along South Lake Union and the downtown core consistently post openings for project architects and design leads. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with sustainable design standards, local building codes, and mixed-use urban projects stand out. Showing familiarity with Seattle's density-driven development context gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire architects in Seattle?
Seattle architect roles are posted by Amazon Web Services, Amazon, and EY and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market includes a mix of large integrated AEC firms, boutique design studios, tech companies managing in-house campus projects, and public agencies overseeing civic and transit infrastructure.
Are there remote architect jobs in Seattle?
Yes, but only selectively, since most architecture work requires site visits, client meetings, and hands-on coordination. About 66% of architect openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those arrangements tend to apply to schematic design, drafting, and BIM documentation phases rather than full project delivery roles.
How can I get a architect job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is securing an architectural intern or job captain role at a mid-size AEC firm or a public agency such as the Seattle Office of Planning and Community Development. Many local firms hire recent graduates to support large commercial and mixed-use projects moving through permitting. Building a portfolio that reflects Seattle's design sensibilities, including adaptive reuse and transit-oriented development, sharpens your appeal to local reviewers.
Which industries hire the most architects in Seattle?
Most architect openings in Seattle sit in Technology & Software and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Seattle's sustained commercial construction boom, combined with large tech employers expanding their campuses and the city's ongoing public infrastructure investment, keeps those sectors at the top of local hiring volume.
