Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the overall system architecture across:
- Embedded compute platforms
- Displays and HMI
- Audio and voice interfaces
- Machine interfaces and connectivity
- Assistant services and AI integration
- OTA updates, diagnostics, logging, and telemetry
- Provide technical leadership throughout design, implementation, integration, optimization, and release activities.
- Translate business objectives into technical architecture, design decisions, and engineering priorities.
- Ensure compliance with safety constraints, including:
- No AI-driven machine movement
- No bypass of existing operator confirmation processes
- Drive machine integration and establish non-functional requirements, including:
- System latency
- Boot time
- Offline operation
- Reliability and availability
- Develop architecture documentation, interface specifications, and technical decision records.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, supplier coordination, and technical risk mitigation activities.
Required Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Software Engineering
- Related engineering discipline
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software, systems engineering, or software architecture roles.
- Strong experience designing and delivering embedded or edge-computing systems.
- Expertise in Linux-based embedded systems and system-level software architecture.
- Experience integrating hardware and software components such as compute modules, displays, and audio systems.
- Experience with vehicle or industrial communication protocols such as:
- CAN
- J1939
- CDL
- Experience developing systems with safety and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled applications, preferably:
- Grounded AI assistants
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Experience with:
- OTA updates
- Diagnostics
- Logging and telemetry
- Device management platforms
- Strong documentation, analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong programming skills in:
- C/C++
- Python
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI edge platforms such as:
- NVIDIA Orin
- NVIDIA Jetson
- Experience with voice technologies:
- Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)
- Text-to-Speech (TTS)
- In-cab audio integration
- Experience developing HMI solutions for:
- Automotive
- Industrial equipment
- Heavy machinery
- Background in:
- Heavy equipment
- Automotive systems
- Industrial IoT
- Robotics
- Connected machinery
- Experience with GPU computing and AI workloads.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity architecture for connected embedded systems.
- Experience with aftermarket or retrofit products.
- Familiarity with grounding AI systems using:
- Service manuals
- Technical documentation
- Diagnostic and fault-code data
