Position Description:
We invite applications for a term line position in our Educational Leadership and/or Curriculum Studies Program that begins on September 1, 2026. This role of Professor of Practice offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of educational leaders and contribute to cutting-edge research in the field. As a member of our faculty, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in preparing students for leadership positions in PK-16 education and broader learning environments. The main areas of focus are teaching, advising, and mentoring students in our master's and doctoral programs and contributing through service to the program and college. This position allows the successful candidate to blend practical experience as an educational leader or innovator with their academic and scholarly expertise, creating a rich learning environment for our students.
The ideal candidate for this position will bring a passion for education, a wealth of practical experience in PK-16 educational settings, and a commitment to teaching excellence. We seek an individual who can inspire our students, contribute to research in the field, and help strengthen ties with the educational community in the Chicago metropolitan area and beyond.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or Curriculum Studies.
- A minimum of four years in elementary, middle, secondary schools or college/university settings, preferably in leadership roles.
- Experience mentoring or advising doctoral students through dissertation research and writing.
- A proven track record of excellence in teaching at the higher education level, including in-person, online, and hybrid modalities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The ability to engage students in critical discussions about challenges and opportunities at all levels of education.
- Innovative approaches to teaching and learning in Educational Leadership or Curriculum Studies.
- The ability to advise graduate and/or doctoral candidates' research projects, theses, capstones, and/or dissertations.
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across disciplines.
- A portfolio of scholarly publications or a clear trajectory for future research and publications.

The position will close on June 21 and first round interviews will begin shortly after. Final interviews will be conducted early to mid July and we hope to be able to provide an offer by no later than the end of July. The position will begin on September 1, 2026.

DePaul University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the qualifications, education, experience, and training of the selected candidate, the scope and responsibilities of the position, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

About DePaul University's Academic Calendar
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).
