Huntington Learning Center is hiring teachers, substitute teachers, tutors, and other education professionals to work with elementary students in an after-school program in Aurora.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher or education professional looking to earn additional income after school with a consistent, five-hour-per-week schedule.
Schedule
- Mondays & Tuesdays: 3:45PM–6:15 PM
- Approximately 5 hours per week
- In person at 60 S. 4th St., Aurora, IL
- Program runs through April 2027
- Additional tutoring hours may also be available at our Huntington Learning Center in Oswego
What You'll Do
You'll work with small groups of approximately five elementary students, helping them with homework and foundational reading skills.
Huntington provides the curriculum, materials, and instructional guidance. Your role will include:
- Providing elementary homework help
- Teaching foundational reading skills using Huntington-provided materials
- Keeping students engaged and on task
- Creating a positive, structured learning environment
- Building encouraging relationships with students
- Working alongside other Huntington tutors and on-site program staff
Who We're Looking For
A bachelor's degree is required for this position.
We're especially interested in candidates with experience as a:
- Classroom teacher or former teacher
- Substitute teacher
- Tutor
- Paraprofessional with a bachelor's degree
- After-school instructor
- Youth program instructor, coach, or mentor
You should enjoy working with elementary-age students and be comfortable managing a small group, providing encouragement and redirection when needed, and helping students stay productive.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is dependable and consistently available Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:45PM–6:15 PM.
Compensation
$18–$22 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Candidates with teaching credentials and/or significant classroom or tutoring experience will be considered at the top of the range.
Additional Hours Available
Want more than four hours per week? Qualified candidates may also have opportunities for additional tutoring hours at our Huntington Learning Center in Oswego, based on availability.
