About the Role
Blue Rose Consulting Group is seeking an Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) to provide temporary Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) coverage supporting military-connected students in school settings at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. This is an on-call, as-needed opportunity rather than a regularly scheduled full-time assignment.
Selected candidates will complete required credentialing, screening, background investigation, and federal/installation suitability and access processes before being considered assignment-ready. Once all applicable approvals are received, ARCs may be offered coverage assignments when program needs arise, subject to their availability and assignment-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide school-based, short-term, non-medical counseling and support to military-connected students during approved school-day assignments.
Collaborate with school personnel, parents or guardians, and installation POCs within confidentiality and program requirements.
Deliver age-appropriate classroom presentations, group activities, and school-community outreach as authorized.
Provide short-term, solution-focused, non-medical counseling and consultation within the scope of the MFLC program.
Coordinate with installation Points of Contact (POCs), program leadership, and other authorized stakeholders to meet temporary coverage needs.
Deliver approved educational briefings, outreach, and resilience-building presentations as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and required program documentation in accordance with DoD and contract requirements.
Follow installation procedures, assigned schedules, and all applicable program policies during each coverage assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
U.S. citizenship.
Master's or doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
Active, unrestricted, independent clinical license in a U.S. state or territory (for example, LCSW, LICSW, LPC, LCPC, LMHC, LMFT, or licensed psychologist); associate-level or supervised licenses do not qualify.
Ability to provide brief, solution-focused, non-medical counseling and work independently in a military installation environment.
Strong communication, professional judgment, and understanding of military culture and family dynamics.
Ability to successfully complete all required background investigations, suitability screening, credential verification, training, and installation access requirements.
Experience supporting children and adolescents in clinical, youth-program, or educational settings.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous MFLC or Department of Defense program experience.
Experience supporting military service members and families.
Experience working with school-age students, educators, and school-based support programs.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Assignment Readiness & Coverage
Coverage is offered on an as-needed basis for absences, vacancies, surge requirements, and other approved program needs.
Assignment duration and timing may vary; assignments may range from short coverage periods to longer temporary needs.
Availability will be confirmed before each offered assignment. Placement in the ARC pool does not guarantee assignments, minimum hours, or a regular schedule.
An ARC may perform services only after all required approvals and assignment-specific prerequisites have been satisfied.
School-based assignments, where applicable, follow school calendars and authorized school-site schedules.
