Some districts also require candidates to hold or be eligible for a PRAXIS School Counselor assessment score.

Which South Carolina cities have the most school counselor jobs?

Columbia leads because it is home to the state's largest school districts and several higher education institutions, while Greenville and Charleston drive demand through fast-growing suburban enrollment and expanding charter and magnet school networks that require dedicated counseling staff.
Are there remote school counselor jobs in South Carolina?
Yes, but they're rare. School counseling is primarily an in-person role built around direct student interaction, crisis response, and collaboration with teachers and families, which limits fully remote opportunities. About 0% of school counselor openings tied to South Carolina are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions are most often found in virtual school programs or district-level counseling coordinator roles.
How can I get hired as a school counselor in South Carolina with little or no experience?
