Career Counselor Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a career counselor in South Carolina?
Becoming a career counselor in South Carolina typically requires a master's degree in counseling or a related field and licensure through the South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors. Most positions require or strongly prefer the Licensed Professional Counselor credential. Candidates complete supervised clinical hours and pass the National Counselor Examination. Some institutional roles at universities or state workforce agencies may hire without full licensure if candidates are license-eligible and supervised.
Which companies hire career counselors in South Carolina?
South Carolina career counselor roles are posted by Crown Homes Real Estate, Herc Rentals, and Dave Friedman Team and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbia leads as the state capital and home to the University of South Carolina and major state agencies, while Greenville's growing manufacturing and healthcare economy supports workforce and career services demand, and Charleston's expanding higher education and hospitality sectors generate steady counselor openings.
