Business Intelligence Analyst Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business intelligence analyst job in Chicago?
The strongest path into Chicago's market is targeting the city's dense finance, healthcare, and supply chain sectors, which drive consistent BI hiring across the Loop and Fulton Market tech corridor. Candidates who pair SQL and Tableau or Power BI proficiency with domain knowledge in one of those industries stand out locally. Networking through Chicago-based data and analytics meetups also surfaces openings that never reach public job boards.
Which companies hire business intelligence analysts in Chicago?
Employers hiring business intelligence analysts in Chicago right now include Google, TransUnion, and The Hartford, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's market includes a mix of major financial institutions, large healthcare systems, global logistics firms, and fast-growing tech companies headquartered in the Fulton Market district.
Are there remote business intelligence analyst jobs in Chicago?
Yes, business intelligence analyst work is well-suited to remote arrangements given its desk-based, analytical nature. About 59% of business intelligence analyst openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting broad adoption across the tech and finance sectors. Dashboard development and reporting work tends to be the most remote-friendly, while stakeholder-facing strategy roles often require at least some in-office presence.
How can I get a business intelligence analyst job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is landing a junior data analyst or reporting analyst role at one of the city's mid-size healthcare systems or insurance carriers, which regularly hire candidates with strong Excel and SQL fundamentals. Bootcamp graduates and recent university hires often break in through contract-to-hire positions at Chicago-based staffing firms. Building a portfolio with public Chicago data sets, such as city transit or property data, gives local hiring managers something concrete to evaluate.
Which industries hire the most business intelligence analysts in Chicago?
Chicago business intelligence analyst roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's position as a hub for commodities trading, large insurance carriers, and major hospital networks creates unusually deep and consistent BI demand across all three sectors.
