Job Description
As a Carpenter, you will play a critical role in the construction and renovation process by crafting and installing building frameworks, structures, and fixtures according to project specifications. This hands-on position requires a combination of technical expertise, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to ensure the successful completion of various construction projects.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans to determine project requirements and specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, metal, and other materials to construct frameworks, walls, roofs, and other structures.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, cabinets, staircases, and molding, ensuring they are level, plumb, and securely fastened.
- Select appropriate tools and equipment for each task, ensuring they are properly maintained and used safely.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Follow established safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing structures as needed.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentice carpenters and other team members as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and clients to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and plans.
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Excellent carpentry skills, including framing, trim work, and finishing.
- Ability to operate a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
- Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training, preferred.
- Previous experience working as a carpenter or in a related field preferred.
- Language: Bilingual (Spanish), plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift heavy materials for prolonged periods.
- Comfort working at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise cutting and assembly tasks.
Certifications:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, required.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
