Civil Project Engineer Jobs in Irvine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a civil project engineer job in Irvine?
The strongest entry points in Irvine are land development firms, transportation planning consultancies, and public agency contractors tied to the City of Irvine and Orange County infrastructure programs. Roles concentrate in the Irvine Business Complex and around the Great Park development corridor. Candidates with experience in grading, drainage, or CADD software for California conditions stand out, as do those familiar with local municipality submittal processes.
Which companies hire civil project engineers in Irvine?

Yes, though remote work is limited for this role since much of the work involves site visits, field coordination, and in-person client meetings. About 28% of civil project engineer openings tied to Irvine are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and the most remote-compatible tasks tend to be design work, plan review, and project reporting rather than construction administration.
How can I get a civil project engineer job in Irvine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Irvine is landing a junior civil engineer or engineer-in-training role at one of the city's many land development or infrastructure consulting firms. Irvine-based consultancies regularly hire EITs to support grading plan checks, utility coordination, and permit submittals for Orange County projects. Having completed relevant internships with Southern California public agencies or private developers, and being enrolled in or having passed the FE exam, gives candidates a clear edge locally.
