Entry Level Civil Project Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level civil project manager job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who have completed civil engineering or construction management coursework, held a relevant internship, or contributed to a capstone project they can speak to concretely. Familiarity with project scheduling tools, reading construction drawings, and an Engineer-in-Training credential all strengthen an application. Tailoring your resume to show site exposure or team coordination, even from academic work, gives you a clear edge over candidates with only coursework to show.
Which companies hire entry level civil project managers?
Companies hiring entry level civil project managers right now include Westwood Professional Services, Kimley-Horn, and The Mannik & Smith Group, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers large engineering and construction firms with structured graduate programs as well as regional contractors and municipal agencies that bring on junior staff for infrastructure and development projects.
Are there remote entry level civil project manager jobs?
Yes, though most civil project manager roles at the entry level are on-site given the fieldwork involved. About 15% of entry level civil project manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these tend to be with firms that separate project coordination and documentation tasks from direct site supervision, making them a realistic option for candidates in early-stage roles.
Are these new grad civil project manager jobs?
Yes, the listings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior civil project manager roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward that requirement, or asks for a portfolio of academic or personal projects in place of professional history. If you graduated within the last year or two, these roles are written with your background in mind.
Which industries hire the most entry level civil project managers?
Entry Level civil project manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they run ongoing infrastructure, land development, and public works pipelines that rely on junior project staff to support scheduling, documentation, and field coordination under senior oversight.
