DESCRIPTION:
Staff pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patient medication therapies, and provide drug information. Staff pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel. In the absence of the Pharmacy manager, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the pharmacy manager.
Shift: First shift, 40 hrs. per week, every 4th weekend and holidays
REQUIREMENTS
- Licensed as a Pharmacist by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Graduate of ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy. Pharm. D. preferred.
- Hospital experience preferred, but not required.
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. preparing IV admixtures, use of computer).
- Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include stooping and kneeling; sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry loads (up to 50 pounds).
- Must be able to operate equipment used for the job. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedules.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
- Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of pediatric, adult, geriatric, and skilled nursing patients.
- Potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials, hazardous and toxic substances. Potential for sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items.
