Clinical Research Associate Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical research associate job in Philadelphia?
Focus your search on Philadelphia's dense cluster of pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, and academic medical centers anchored in University City and along the I-76 corridor. Familiarity with FDA regulatory standards and clinical trial management systems gives candidates a clear edge here. Targeting CROs first is practical because they hire continuously across therapeutic areas and often promote from within.
Which companies hire clinical research associates in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia clinical research associate roles are posted by University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market blends large pharmaceutical employers, mid-size CROs, and research-intensive health systems, giving candidates a wide range of organizational types to target.
Are there remote clinical research associate jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though only partially: site-based monitoring and patient-facing work require on-site presence, while data review, protocol writing, and sponsor communication can often be done remotely. About 40% of clinical research associate openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid schedules most common among CROs operating out of Center City and University City offices.
How can I get a clinical research associate job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is a clinical research coordinator role at one of the city's large academic health systems, which routinely hire candidates with a relevant science degree and train them in GCP and regulatory compliance. From there, a year or two of site-level experience positions you for a junior CRA role at a local CRO. Volunteering on IRB-approved research at area universities also builds a credible trial background.
Which industries hire the most clinical research associates in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia clinical research associate roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Agriculture & Farming, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The city's deep roots in pharmaceutical manufacturing and its cluster of nationally ranked academic medical centers make it one of the stronger regional markets for clinical trial professionals on the East Coast.
