Clinical Research Scientist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical research scientist in Texas?
A bachelor's degree in a life science field is the minimum entry point, though most Texas employers prefer a master's or doctorate for scientist-level roles. Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for clinical research scientists, but earning the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) or Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) certification strengthens your application considerably. Large Texas research institutions and pharmaceutical companies treat these credentials as a meaningful differentiator.
Which companies hire clinical research scientists in Texas?
Employers hiring clinical research scientists in Texas right now include UT Southwestern Medical Center, The University of Texas at Austin, and UTHealth Houston, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of major cancer centers, contract research organizations, and pharmaceutical manufacturers means the employer mix ranges from large academic medical systems to global CROs with regional offices in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Which Texas cities have the most clinical research scientist jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin account for the largest share of clinical research scientist openings in Texas as of June 2026. Houston dominates because of its dense medical center corridor, home to MD Anderson and dozens of affiliated research institutions, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume from pharmaceutical and biotech employers headquartered in the suburbs, and Austin's growing life sciences sector has added consistent demand over recent years.
Are there remote clinical research scientist jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most clinical roles, because a meaningful portion of the work involves data review, protocol writing, and regulatory documentation that can be done off-site. About 0% of clinical research scientist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the analytical nature of much of the role. Site-facing responsibilities such as patient monitoring visits and investigator meetings typically still require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a clinical research scientist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a clinical research coordinator or research associate role at one of Texas's large academic medical centers, particularly those within the Texas Medical Center in Houston or UT Southwestern in Dallas. Many institutions run structured new-graduate programs or post-baccalaureate research fellowships. Earning an ACRP or SOCRA certification before applying, combined with laboratory or data management experience from graduate coursework, gives candidates a clear edge over others with similar academic backgrounds.
Where can I find and apply to clinical research scientist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to clinical research scientist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and other markets. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization, then apply directly through each listing.
