Clinical Research Scientist Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical research scientist job in Seattle?
The most direct path in Seattle is targeting the South Lake Union biopharma corridor and the University District's academic medical centers, where hiring volume is highest. Candidates with oncology, rare disease, or cell and gene therapy trial experience stand out in this market. Regulatory affairs exposure and familiarity with Phase I through III oncology protocols give a real edge over generalist applicants in Seattle's competitive biotech scene.
Which companies hire clinical research scientists in Seattle?

Seattle's employer mix runs from large biopharma and contract research organizations to academic medical centers affiliated with major research universities and specialty oncology-focused biotechs.
Are there remote clinical research scientist jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though the role is largely on-site by nature since protocol oversight, patient interaction, and lab coordination typically require physical presence. About 55% of clinical research scientist openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with flexibility concentrated in data management, medical writing, and regulatory submissions functions rather than active trial coordination.
How can I get a clinical research scientist job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is through clinical research coordinator or research associate roles at the University of Washington Medical Center, Fred Hutch, or the region's contract research organizations, which regularly hire candidates with relevant science degrees and train them into scientist-track positions. Volunteering with clinical trials units or completing a Good Clinical Practice certification sharpens your application for Seattle's competitive entry-level openings.
