Cloud Architect Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud architect in Michigan?
Cloud architect is not a state-licensed occupation in Michigan, so there is no state board or exam required. Most Michigan employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, combined with several years of hands-on cloud engineering experience. Earning a vendor certification such as AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect significantly strengthens a candidate's profile and is frequently listed as a requirement in Michigan postings.
How much do cloud architects make in Michigan?
Cloud architects in Michigan earn a median of about $112,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,400 for the lowest 10% to over $167,960 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud architects in Michigan?
Employers hiring cloud architects in Michigan right now include Domino's, NTT DATA, and Jolera, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of large automotive, financial services, and healthcare organizations means demand is spread across both corporate technology teams and regional managed-service providers.
Which Michigan cities have the most cloud architect jobs?
Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Michigan are the Michigan cities with the most cloud architect openings. Detroit and its suburbs dominate because of the headquarters density of automotive giants and financial institutions, while Ann Arbor draws postings from the University of Michigan's technology operations and a growing cluster of software and health-tech firms, and Grand Rapids benefits from a concentration of regional healthcare systems and manufacturing companies investing in cloud modernization.
Are there remote cloud architect jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of cloud architect openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the fundamentally software-defined nature of the work. Architecture design, documentation, stakeholder workshops, and infrastructure-as-code development are all well-suited to remote delivery, though some Michigan employers require on-site presence for initial cloud migration planning or regulated-industry compliance reviews.
How can I get hired as a cloud architect in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a cloud engineer or systems administrator and building toward architecture responsibilities over time. Large Michigan employers such as Ford, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Rocket Companies hire associate cloud engineers and IT infrastructure analysts who grow into architect roles internally. Earning an entry-level vendor certification, contributing to open-source infrastructure projects, and building a portfolio of personal cloud deployments gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to Michigan technology teams for their first cloud-focused role.
Where can I find and apply to cloud architect jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to cloud architect jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings from employers actively hiring. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to each one.
