DESCRIPTION
As a PCA you operate as the conduit between ProServe Account Executives and Shared Delivery Teams (SDT), ensuring solutions are realistic, achievable, and maximize customer business outcomes (CBOs). You serve as a trusted advisor on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the regulatory landscape.
This is not a role for a sports fan. It requires a professional who understands how leagues operate as businesses: media rights economics, collective bargaining agreements, salary cap structures, franchise revenue models, multi jurisdictional gaming regulations, and how technology underpins live broadcast, fan engagement, and wagering operations. That business fluency, combined with cloud architecture expertise, is what makes this role distinct.
Your success will be measured by SOW signings, successful solution delivery, and customer satisfaction (CSAT).
Key job responsibilities
As an experienced technology professional, you will be responsible for:
- Designing scalable, secure AWS solutions for sports and gaming customers, accounting for real time processing, regulatory compliance, and peak event traffic patterns
- Providing technical guidance during pre-sales and implementation, translating sports business structures (media rights, revenue sharing, franchise economics) into solution architectures
- Collaborating with Account Managers and SDTs to ensure proposals address sports betting compliance (AML, KYC), responsible gaming requirements, and data privacy obligations
- Advising customers on emerging technologies: sports AI/ML, DTC streaming, connected stadium infrastructure, integrity monitoring, and esports platforms
- Sharing knowledge through mentoring, training, and reusable artifacts that capture the regulatory and business patterns unique to this vertical
A day in the life
As a PCA in the sports and gaming vertical, no two days look the same, but your time centers on customers, partners, and solving real problems:
- Engaging directly with customers to understand their cloud journey, identify pain points, and scope solutions that deliver measurable value
- Partnering closely with ProServe Account Executives (PAEs) to align on opportunity strategy, develop statements of work, and drive deals through the pipeline
- Deep diving into customer environments to assess level of effort, define solution architectures, and build business cases that articulate the ProServe value proposition
- Delivering opportunity scoping and solution design focused entirely around the customer, solving their specific problems rather than selling generic services
- Working across organizational boundaries with Solution Architects, Account Executives, and delivery teams both inside ProServe and across the broader AWS sales organization
- Engaging directly with C suite executives, league technology officers, franchise CTOs, and technical experts inside each sports and gaming organization to build trust and drive outcomes

Cloud Architect Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud architect in Virginia?
Virginia does not require a state-issued license to work as a cloud architect, so the path runs through education and vendor certifications. Most Virginia employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, followed by professional-level certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. Roles supporting federal agencies or defense contractors in Northern Virginia also commonly require a DoD security clearance alongside those credentials.
How much do cloud architects make in Virginia?
Cloud architects in Virginia earn a median of about $141,340 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $85,050 for the lowest 10% to over $210,180 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud architects in Virginia?
Employers hiring cloud architects in Virginia right now include Booz Allen Hamilton, Amazon Web Services, and Peraton, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Virginia's high concentration of federal contractors and technology firms means hiring volume stays consistent year-round, particularly in Northern Virginia where government cloud programs generate sustained demand.
Which Virginia cities have the most cloud architect jobs?
Chantilly, McLean, and Reston lead Virginia for cloud architect openings. Northern Virginia dominates because it hosts one of the largest clusters of federal agencies, defense contractors, and data centers in the country, while Richmond draws from a growing base of financial services and state government technology programs, and Hampton Roads reflects demand from Navy and joint-base commands requiring cloud infrastructure support.
Are there remote cloud architect jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than most fields. Cloud architecture is by nature a desk-based and systems-design discipline, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 61% of cloud architect openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though roles supporting classified federal environments typically require on-site work in approved facilities. Design, migration planning, and governance functions are the sub-areas most frequently offered as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a cloud architect in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a cloud engineer or systems administrator role first, then moving into architecture as your design responsibilities grow. Large Virginia employers such as Leidos, SAIC, and Booz Allen Hamilton run associate and early-career technology programs that accept candidates without prior cloud architecture titles. Earning an AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Microsoft Azure Administrator certification before applying gives candidates a concrete advantage, and building a portfolio of personal or academic cloud projects helps demonstrate capability when work history is limited.
Where can I find and apply to cloud architect jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to cloud architect jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Virginia openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings to see roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
