INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives extends globally. To support this mission, we are building out the backbone of our fintech systems to ensure they are scalable, compliant, and capable of supporting rapid product innovation. We’re looking for a strong product leader to drive this vision forward!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the product roadmap for subledger and reporting infrastructure, the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface, and reconciliation and controls that enable month-end close and auditability. This role owns the end-to-end journey of financial data from engineering systems to the general ledger/ERP and partners closely with Accounting, data, and platform teams.
What you’ll do:
- Own the financial reporting product roadmap: subledgers, standardized accounting-event interface, journal-entry flows, GL/ERP integrations, and reconciliation tooling.
- Work with Engineering to define subledger patterns and the Accounting ↔ Engineering interface: accounting-event schemas, API contracts, domain boundaries, and migration strategies for operational systems to adopt the standard.
- Translate accounting policy and audit requirements into product specs, posting logic, SOX controls, and implementable engineering requirements.
- Lead matching/reconciliation strategy and automation: run vendor evaluations, define recon rules and ownership, and deliver reconciliation automation for high-volume, critical accounts.
- Own data lineage, quality metrics, SLAs, monitoring, and remediation flows for critical reports and journal feeds.
- Run product discovery, prioritization, and cross-functional programs: scope pilots, set success metrics, manage tradeoffs, and deliver production systems with Engineering, Accounting, and Finance.
- Drive governance and change management: coordinate Accounting, Finance, Product and Engineering; own go-to-production signoffs, runbooks, and stakeholder training.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What we’re looking for:
- 4+ years product management experience owning financial platforms or data products — responsible for roadmap, APIs, data models, and cross-functional delivery.
- Practical accounting experience required: hands-on accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close, reconciliations, and external audits. CPA preferred. Practical domain expertise is more important than the credential alone.
- Proven track record of building and working knowledge of financial systems, subledger → GL flows, journal-entry design, reconciliations, SOX controls, and external audit processes.
- Strong technical fluency — data models, ETL/DBT, SQL, and API design — and the ability to partner tightly with engineering and data teams on lineage and transformations.
- Exceptional communicator and cross-functional influencer: translates accounting requirements into technical specs, drives consensus across Finance & Engineering, and presents tradeoffs to senior leaders.
- Willingness to work East Coast hours.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or other related fields; or equivalent practical experience.

Align your credentials with U.S. accounting standards
Affirm operates under U.S. GAAP, so highlight any coursework or certifications in GAAP-based accounting on your resume. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before applying.
Target Affirm's finance and accounting pipeline directly
Affirm posts Bookkeeper roles under its broader finance operations team. Filter your search by department, not just job title, so you catch related postings like Staff Accountant or Accounting Associate that overlap with bookkeeping functions.
Understand the LCA requirement before your offer stage
For H-1B sponsorship, Affirm must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL certifying the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your location. Knowing this process helps you ask informed questions and set realistic start-date expectations.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Bookkeeper openings at Affirm
Sponsored bookkeeping roles at fintech companies don't stay open long. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Affirm postings that list visa sponsorship, so you're applying to verified opportunities rather than guessing at sponsorship willingness.
Prepare for PERM if you're pursuing permanent residence
Affirm sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for finance roles through the PERM labor certification process. This typically begins after you've established yourself in the role, so ask your hiring manager about the company's standard timeline during the offer stage.

Find Bookkeeper at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Bookkeepers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Bookkeeper and related accounting roles. Bookkeeping qualifies as a specialty occupation when the position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. Affirm's legal team handles the H-1B petition process, which includes filing a Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS adjudicates the petition. Cap-subject petitions are tied to the annual lottery in April.
How do I apply for Bookkeeper jobs at Affirm?
Apply through Affirm's careers page, where finance and accounting roles are listed under the Finance or Operations department. Tailor your resume to emphasize reconciliation, accounts payable or receivable, and any experience with cloud-based accounting software common in fintech environments. You can also browse verified Bookkeeper openings at Affirm with visa sponsorship confirmed through Migrate Mate, which filters out roles that don't actively support work authorization.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for Bookkeeper roles?
Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for most Bookkeeper roles that require degree-level qualifications. F-1 students can enter through OPT or CPT before transitioning to H-1B. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status under the accountant category, which covers bookkeeping work. For longer-term permanent residence, Affirm sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process with DOL.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for Bookkeeper roles?
Affirm typically expects a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business for Bookkeeper positions, particularly for roles tied to visa sponsorship. Practical experience with general ledger management, month-end close processes, and reconciliation is valued. Familiarity with fintech-scale transaction volumes and cloud accounting tools strengthens your application. International candidates should be prepared to demonstrate that their degree meets U.S. equivalency standards.
How do I think about timing if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Bookkeeper role at Affirm?
The H-1B cap lottery runs once a year, with registrations typically opening in March and the fiscal year beginning October 1. If you're on OPT, confirm your end date against this cycle. Cap-exempt pathways are not available for standard Bookkeeper roles at Affirm. USCIS premium processing can reduce petition adjudication to around 15 business days, but the lottery itself cannot be expedited.
