Align your credentials to U.S. accounting standards
Thermo Fisher's finance teams work within U.S. GAAP frameworks. Before applying, make sure your resume reflects familiarity with U.S. bookkeeping practices, not just local standards from your home country, so hiring managers see an immediate fit.
Target Thermo Fisher's shared services locations
Bookkeeper openings at Thermo Fisher cluster around their shared finance and operations hubs. Focusing your applications on these sites increases your chances of landing a role with a team already familiar with sponsoring finance professionals.
Use Migrate Mate to filter visa-sponsoring Bookkeeper roles
Not every Bookkeeper posting at large employers explicitly flags sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to surface Thermo Fisher openings confirmed to support visa sponsorship, so you're applying where your immigration needs are already accounted for.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline during the interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, Thermo Fisher's HR team will need to confirm your work authorization end date early. Raise your timeline proactively so the hiring team can assess whether an H-1B filing or OPT extension bridges the gap before your start date.
Understand how PERM affects bookkeeper green card timelines
EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship for Bookkeeper roles requires a PERM labor certification through DOL, which can take a year or more before USCIS even receives the petition. Factor this into your long-term planning when evaluating an offer.
Prepare documentation that supports a specialty occupation argument
H-1B eligibility for Bookkeeper roles depends on demonstrating the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Gather transcripts, credential evaluations for foreign degrees, and any professional certifications before Thermo Fisher initiates your petition.

Find Bookkeeper at Thermo Fisher Scientific JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Bookkeepers?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Bookkeeper roles. As a large science and research company with a global workforce, they have established immigration processes and work with legal counsel to file H-1B petitions. You should confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter during early conversations, since not every individual posting is guaranteed sponsorship.
How do I apply for Bookkeeper jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
You can apply directly through Thermo Fisher Scientific's careers portal, or use Migrate Mate to browse their current Bookkeeper openings filtered by visa sponsorship availability. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect U.S. GAAP experience and any relevant accounting software proficiency. Mention your visa status early so recruiters can confirm the role is eligible for sponsorship before moving you through the process.
Which visa types does Thermo Fisher Scientific commonly use for Bookkeeper roles?
Thermo Fisher sponsors H-1B visas for Bookkeeper roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant degree. They also support F-1 OPT and CPT for students in accounting or finance programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying accounting categories, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term permanent residence sponsorship.
What qualifications does Thermo Fisher Scientific expect for Bookkeeper roles?
Thermo Fisher typically looks for a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field for Bookkeeper positions. Familiarity with enterprise accounting systems, U.S. GAAP, accounts payable and receivable cycles, and financial reconciliation is expected. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, having a degree that directly aligns with the bookkeeping function strengthens the specialty occupation argument USCIS requires.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Bookkeeper at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
For H-1B sponsorship, Thermo Fisher must file during the annual cap period in April, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. USCIS standard processing takes three to five months; premium processing reduces this to around 15 business days. For Green Card sponsorship via PERM, the full EB-2 or EB-3 process through DOL and USCIS typically runs one to three years or longer depending on your country of birth.
