Align your credentials with U.S. accounting standards
Hyatt's finance teams expect familiarity with U.S. GAAP and property management accounting systems like Opera or Birchstreet. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before applying so your bookkeeping background reads clearly to hiring managers.
Target property-level and regional finance postings separately
Hyatt hires Bookkeepers at both individual hotel properties and regional shared-service centers. These postings often appear under different hiring teams with different sponsorship appetites, so searching both tracks gives you a broader view of where sponsorship activity is concentrated.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Bookkeeper roles by visa type
Hyatt posts Bookkeeper openings across multiple visa categories. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for roles matching your visa situation, so you're not wasting applications on positions that don't align with your sponsorship eligibility.
Confirm LCA filing timing with your Hyatt recruiter early
For H-1B sponsorship, Hyatt must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your petition. Ask your recruiter directly whether the role's start date allows enough lead time, especially if you're on OPT with a fixed expiration.
Flag your TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Accounting roles including Bookkeeper appear on the TN visa's qualifying occupation list for Canadian and Mexican nationals. TN status processes at the port of entry without the H-1B lottery, which can make you a faster and lower-cost hire for Hyatt's finance teams.
Understand how PERM shapes your long-term sponsorship path
Hyatt sponsors Green Cards for qualifying finance roles through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL. Bookkeeper positions typically file under EB-3, and PERM timelines run twelve to twenty-four months, so raise this conversation during offer negotiations rather than after you've started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Hyatt sponsor H-1B visas for Bookkeepers?
Yes, Hyatt sponsors H-1B visas for Bookkeeper roles, particularly at its corporate offices and regional shared-service centers. Because Bookkeeping is classified as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, the role generally meets USCIS eligibility criteria. Your offer must be in place before the annual H-1B registration window opens in March.
How do I apply for Bookkeeper jobs at Hyatt?
Applications go through Hyatt's careers portal, where Bookkeeper openings are listed under Finance and Accounting. You can also browse visa-sponsorship-eligible postings directly on Migrate Mate, which filters Hyatt's open roles by visa type. Tailor your resume to reflect U.S. GAAP familiarity, property management systems experience, and any hospitality industry background you have.
Which visa types does Hyatt commonly use for Bookkeeper roles?
Hyatt uses several pathways for Bookkeeper positions depending on your background and timeline. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route for degree-holding candidates. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates are considered during authorized work periods. For permanent residency, Hyatt sponsors through EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories via PERM labor certification.
What qualifications does Hyatt expect for a sponsored Bookkeeper position?
Hyatt typically looks for a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for H-1B eligibility. Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation in a hospitality environment is valued. Familiarity with hotel-specific accounting software strengthens your application considerably over candidates with only general bookkeeping backgrounds.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Bookkeeper role at Hyatt?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B petitions filed under regular processing take three to six months after USCIS receipt, while premium processing can return a decision in around fifteen business days. TN status for Canadian citizens can be granted same-day at the border. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs significantly longer, often twelve to twenty-four months for the DOL certification stage alone.
