Align your credentials with CPA-adjacent standards
CrossCountry values bookkeepers who can work alongside CPAs on client audits. Before applying, ensure your credentials and transcripts clearly show coursework in U.S. GAAP, double-entry accounting, or reconciliation. International degrees should include an official equivalency evaluation.
Target postings tied to specific client verticals
CrossCountry staffs bookkeepers by industry vertical, not just general accounting. Filter job postings for mentions of your sector experience, whether that's government contracting, financial services, or healthcare. Matching your background to a vertical increases your chance of reaching the sponsorship conversation.
Confirm LCA wage compliance before accepting an offer
Before signing, verify that the offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your specific metropolitan area. For H-1B and E-3 filings, the Labor Condition Application locks in a wage level, and a mismatch between offer letter and LCA can delay or void your filing.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Bookkeeper roles
CrossCountry's open Bookkeeper positions span multiple locations and client needs at any given time. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at CrossCountry that match your visa type, so you're applying to positions already screened for sponsorship eligibility.
Prepare for an F-1 OPT to H-1B cap-gap scenario
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm with CrossCountry's HR team whether your offer is structured to carry you through the H-1B cap-gap period. USCIS allows continued work authorization if your H-1B petition is filed before OPT expires and your I-20 is extended accordingly.
Request clarity on PERM timing for permanent residency
If your goal is a Green Card via EB-2 or EB-3, ask during the offer stage whether CrossCountry initiates PERM after a defined tenure period. PERM labor certification timelines at DOL currently run several months, so knowing when the clock starts matters for long-term planning.

Find Bookkeeper at CrossCountry Consulting JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CrossCountry Consulting sponsor H-1B visas for Bookkeepers?
Yes, CrossCountry Consulting sponsors H-1B visas for Bookkeeper roles. The firm works with candidates across multiple visa categories for accounting and auditing positions. If you're in the H-1B cap lottery or transitioning from another status, confirm with the recruiter whether your target role and location are included in their sponsorship pipeline before progressing through interviews.
How do I apply for Bookkeeper jobs at CrossCountry Consulting?
Applications go through CrossCountry's careers portal, where Bookkeeper roles are listed by location and service line. You can also find and filter their open Bookkeeper positions on Migrate Mate, which lets you browse specifically for roles that align with your visa type. Tailor your application to the client vertical mentioned in the job description rather than submitting a generic resume.
Which visa types does CrossCountry Consulting commonly use for Bookkeeper roles?
CrossCountry sponsors Bookkeeper candidates on several visa types including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT for recent graduates, and immigrant pathways like EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and career timeline. Each has different filing requirements and timelines, so align your target visa with the offer timeline early.
What qualifications does CrossCountry Consulting expect for sponsored Bookkeeper positions?
CrossCountry typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, along with hands-on experience in reconciliations, accounts payable or receivable, and general ledger maintenance. For specialty occupation visa filings like H-1B or E-3, your degree must align directly with the Bookkeeper duties in the job description. Professional certifications in U.S. accounting standards strengthen your application considerably.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Bookkeeper role at CrossCountry Consulting?
Timeline depends on the visa category. H-1B standard processing runs three to six months after the April lottery, while premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication to around 15 business days. E-3 and TN visas move faster since they don't require lottery registration. PERM-based Green Card pathways involve DOL labor certification, which adds several months before an I-140 can be filed. Factor these timelines into your start date negotiation.
