Frame Your Credentials for Specialty Occupation
CrossCountry's Business Consultant roles are grounded in accounting and advisory work. Before applying, confirm your degree is in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field. USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation eligibility, so misaligned credentials slow petitions.
Target Practice Areas That Match Your Background
CrossCountry structures its consulting work by industry vertical and service line. Applying to roles that match your specific accounting or audit background, rather than general consulting openings, signals fit and makes your petition easier to support at the LCA stage.
Verify OPT Timing Before Submitting Applications
If you're on F-1 OPT, CrossCountry needs enough runway to file an H-1B cap petition on your behalf before your authorization expires. Apply early enough that an offer and petition can clear the April filing window without leaving a gap in your work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Open Roles Efficiently
CrossCountry posts Business Consultant openings across multiple locations and practice areas throughout the year. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at CrossCountry that align with your visa type, so you're not wading through positions that don't support sponsorship.
Clarify Green Card Support During Offer Negotiation
CrossCountry sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 pathways for Business Consultants. Once you have an offer, ask directly whether PERM sponsorship is included and at what seniority level it typically begins. Getting clarity early prevents surprises after you've already started.
Prepare for the LCA Wage Level Discussion
The DOL Labor Condition Application locks in a prevailing wage tier before your H-1B or E-3 petition is filed. For Business Consultant roles in accounting and advisory, wage level II or III is common. Understanding which tier applies to your offer helps you evaluate total compensation accurately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CrossCountry Consulting sponsor H-1B visas for Business Consultants?
Yes, CrossCountry Consulting sponsors H-1B visas for Business Consultant roles. Because Business Consulting in accounting and advisory qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, the firm is positioned to support H-1B petitions for this function. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, timing your application to align with the April filing window is critical.
Which visa types does CrossCountry Consulting commonly use for Business Consultant roles?
CrossCountry sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN visa, and F-1 OPT for Business Consultant positions, along with immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. E-3 is available to Australian citizens only. TN visa applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business occupations. Green Card sponsorship through PERM is available for longer-tenure consultants.
What qualifications are expected for Business Consultant roles at CrossCountry Consulting?
CrossCountry typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or business administration, plus relevant experience in advisory, audit, or management consulting. Certifications like CPA or CFA strengthen your profile. For visa purposes, your degree must align closely with the specific consulting function, as USCIS evaluates degree-to-role fit directly.
How do I apply for Business Consultant jobs at CrossCountry Consulting?
You can find and filter Business Consultant openings at CrossCountry Consulting by visa type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where sponsorship is actively supported. When applying, tailor your materials to the specific practice area, whether that's accounting advisory, audit, or financial consulting, since CrossCountry evaluates candidates against defined service lines rather than a single generalist track.
How do I plan my timeline for visa sponsorship with CrossCountry Consulting?
Timeline depends on your current status. H-1B cap cases must be filed in April for an October 1 start, so an offer by late February is the practical deadline. E-3 and TN petitions move faster, often within four to eight weeks of an offer. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, you may have more flexibility, but factor in cap-gap rules if your OPT expires before October.
