Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires Strategy Consultant roles to qualify as specialty occupations, meaning your degree must directly relate to the position. A finance, accounting, economics, or business analytics background strengthens your petition considerably more than a general management degree.
Target CrossCountry's advisory practice areas strategically
CrossCountry structures consulting work around accounting advisory, finance transformation, and risk practices. Applying to roles that match your technical background in one of these verticals signals fit beyond generic strategy experience and improves your odds of clearing internal approval for sponsorship.
Browse open Strategy Consultant roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter CrossCountry Consulting's live Strategy Consultant openings by visa type. This lets you identify which roles have active sponsorship attached before you invest time in the application, not after.
Clarify your visa timeline before the offer stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date and cap-gap eligibility before negotiations begin. CrossCountry will need to file your H-1B petition by the April deadline, so late-stage offers in summer can create a tight window that requires premium processing.
Understand how the LCA affects your offer location
CrossCountry's consulting model places you at client sites, which means the DOL Labor Condition Application must cover the worksite location, not just the firm's home office. Confirm with your recruiter which worksite address will appear on the LCA before your start date.
Position client-facing accounting experience prominently
CrossCountry's clients operate in regulated accounting and auditing environments. Demonstrating prior work on audit readiness, financial restatements, or internal controls directly maps to the firm's engagements and makes the specialty occupation argument cleaner for USCIS review.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CrossCountry Consulting sponsor H-1B visas for Strategy Consultants?
Yes, CrossCountry Consulting sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy Consultants. The firm has filed H-1B petitions for professionals in consulting and advisory roles, and Strategy Consultant positions are typically structured to meet USCIS specialty occupation requirements. If you're currently on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, discuss your timeline with the recruiter early in the process so the firm can plan the April filing window accordingly.
How do I apply for Strategy Consultant jobs at CrossCountry Consulting?
Applications go through CrossCountry Consulting's careers page, where roles are listed by practice area and location. You can also find open Strategy Consultant positions filtered by visa sponsorship availability on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify roles where sponsorship is actively offered. Tailor your application to highlight relevant accounting advisory, finance transformation, or risk experience that aligns with CrossCountry's client engagements.
Which visa types does CrossCountry Consulting commonly use for Strategy Consultant roles?
CrossCountry Consulting sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for Strategy Consultants, along with E-3 visas for Australian citizens and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals where the role qualifies under USMCA categories. The firm also supports F-1 OPT extensions for recent graduates and has sponsored Green Card cases through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based preference categories for longer-tenured employees.
What qualifications does CrossCountry Consulting expect for sponsored Strategy Consultant roles?
CrossCountry typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, or a closely related field, combined with prior consulting or advisory experience in regulated industries. For USCIS purposes, your degree must directly relate to the Strategy Consultant role. Candidates who can demonstrate hands-on experience in areas like audit readiness, finance transformation, or internal controls are better positioned for both the role and the specialty occupation determination.
How do I time my application to avoid gaps in work authorization at CrossCountry Consulting?
If you're on F-1 OPT, CrossCountry needs to file your H-1B petition in April for an October 1 start date. Receiving an offer by February or March gives the firm time to prepare the Labor Condition Application with DOL before the filing window opens. If your OPT expires before October 1, cap-gap protections under F-1 regulations may bridge the gap, but confirm this with CrossCountry's immigration counsel before accepting an offer.
