Align your CPA credentials before applying
CrossCountry recruits Project Consultants for accounting and auditing work where CPA licensure or progress toward it signals readiness. Confirm your credential equivalency with NASBA before your interview so you're not caught off guard during offer negotiations.
Target engagements matching your visa category
E-3 and TN visas require a qualifying specialty occupation tied to your degree field. When applying, match your application to accounting or auditing-specific postings rather than general consulting roles, since the job description scope directly affects USCIS adjudication.
Search open Project Consultant roles on Migrate Mate
CrossCountry posts Project Consultant openings across practice areas, and tracking which ones are active matters when visa timelines are tight. Use Migrate Mate to filter for CrossCountry Consulting roles confirmed to offer sponsorship for your specific visa category.
Ask HR about LCA timing during the offer stage
Your H-1B or E-3 filing can't move forward until DOL certifies the Labor Condition Application, which adds time before your start date. Raise this during the offer stage so CrossCountry's HR and legal team can begin the LCA without waiting for you to prompt them.
Prepare for a specialty occupation documentation request
USCIS increasingly issues RFEs for consulting roles, questioning whether project-based work qualifies as a specialty occupation. Gather employer letters, engagement scopes, and your degree transcripts in advance so CrossCountry's immigration counsel can build a stronger initial petition.
Understand how OPT gaps affect your start date
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, your 60-day grace period does not extend your work authorization. Coordinate your CrossCountry start date precisely against your OPT expiration to avoid unauthorized employment before your H-1B or cap-gap coverage kicks in.

Find Project Consultant at CrossCountry Consulting JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CrossCountry Consulting sponsor H-1B visas for Project Consultants?
Yes, CrossCountry Consulting sponsors H-1B visas for Project Consultant roles. Because consulting engagements in accounting and auditing qualify as specialty occupations, H-1B petitions for this position are supportable with the right documentation. Filing is subject to the annual H-1B cap and lottery unless you are already H-1B status and transferring, in which case CrossCountry can file year-round.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Consultant roles at CrossCountry Consulting?
CrossCountry Consulting has sponsored H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for Project Consultants. Australian citizens often use the E-3 given its simpler process and no lottery requirement. Canadian and Mexican nationals in accounting roles may qualify for TN status. Green Card sponsorship at the EB-2 or EB-3 level typically becomes available after you establish tenure with the firm.
What qualifications and experience are expected for a Project Consultant at CrossCountry Consulting?
CrossCountry typically looks for a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with CPA licensure or active candidacy preferred for accounting and auditing engagements. Project Consultants are expected to contribute directly to client deliverables, so prior experience in public accounting, internal audit, or advisory roles at a firm or corporate finance function strengthens your application significantly.
How do I apply for Project Consultant jobs at CrossCountry Consulting?
You can apply directly through CrossCountry Consulting's careers page or find open Project Consultant positions filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific practice area listed, whether that's accounting advisory, internal audit, or financial reporting, since CrossCountry's Project Consultant roles vary by service line and hiring teams review applications accordingly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Project Consultant offer at CrossCountry Consulting?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN visas can move quickly, sometimes within a few weeks of an approved LCA, since neither requires a lottery. H-1B sponsorship follows USCIS's cap cycle, with regular processing taking several months after an October 1 start date. PERM-based Green Card cases run longer, often one to three years from initiation, and typically begin only after you've been with the firm for a period of time.
