Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Project Consultant Jobs at WSP Jobs
Align your credentials to WSP's practice areas
WSP organizes Project Consultant hiring around disciplines like transportation, environmental services, and built environment. Tailor your resume to reflect the specific practice area you're targeting, not just general consulting experience. Discipline-specific framing strengthens your specialty occupation case for H-1B or E-3 petitions.
Target WSP offices in high-demand markets
WSP concentrates Project Consultant hiring in cities with major infrastructure activity. Applying to offices in those markets improves your odds because active project pipelines create real headcount need, which directly influences whether a hiring manager will pursue sponsorship for an international candidate.
Clarify your OPT or CPT authorization early
If you're on F-1 status, confirm with your DSO whether your Project Consultant role qualifies under STEM OPT extension before your first interview. WSP recruits from engineering and planning programs, and starting that conversation early prevents timeline gaps between your OPT end date and an H-1B cap-subject filing.
Understand how WSP structures the LCA filing
Before your offer is finalized, ask your WSP recruiter whether the Labor Condition Application will reflect your assigned office location or a client site. DOL requires the LCA to cover the actual work location, and Project Consultants often rotate between sites, which can affect the prevailing wage determination.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Project Consultant roles by visa type
Not every WSP posting flags sponsorship availability upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Consultant openings at WSP by the visa types you hold or need, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than finding out late in the process.
Prepare for a credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S.
WSP's specialty occupation petitions for Project Consultants require clear equivalency between your foreign degree and a U.S. bachelor's in a directly related field. Commission a NACES-member evaluation before your offer stage so the documentation is ready when your employer submits the I-129 to USCIS.

Find Project Consultant at WSP JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Project Consultants?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Project Consultants. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a field like engineering, environmental science, planning, or a related discipline. WSP has an established immigration process, and sponsorship is handled through the firm's internal HR and legal teams once an offer is extended.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Consultant roles at WSP?
Project Consultants at WSP are commonly sponsored on H-1B, E-3 (for Australian citizens), and TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying NAFTA categories). F-1 OPT and CPT holders are also hired into this role, with H-1B cap-subject or cap-exempt filings typically following once OPT authorization nears its end.
What qualifications does WSP expect for a Project Consultant role?
WSP typically looks for a bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, urban planning, or a closely related technical field. For international candidates, relevant project experience in infrastructure, advisory, or environmental work strengthens both your application and the specialty occupation argument required for visa sponsorship. Licensure or professional accreditation is valued but not always required at the consultant level.
How do I apply for Project Consultant jobs at WSP?
You can search and apply for Project Consultant roles at WSP directly through their careers portal or use Migrate Mate to filter openings by visa type so you're only seeing positions where sponsorship aligns with your status. When applying, address the specific practice area and office location in your materials. Sponsorship discussions typically happen after a hiring manager expresses interest, so lead with your qualifications.
How do I manage the timing between my OPT expiration and an H-1B filing at WSP?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS accepting registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1 and you're selected in the lottery, a cap-gap extension automatically bridges that period for F-1 students. Starting conversations with WSP's HR team well before your OPT end date gives them enough lead time to file correctly.
