Align Your Degree to Consulting Practice Areas
KPMG recruits Project Consultants into specific practice lines like Deal Advisory, Risk, and Audit. Your degree field needs to map cleanly to the practice you're targeting, because specialty occupation support hinges on that alignment when USCIS reviews your H-1B petition.
Research KPMG's Campus Recruiting Cycles Early
KPMG fills a large share of entry-level Project Consultant roles through campus programs and early-identification internships. Applying through those pipelines puts you in front of hiring managers before headcount decisions are finalized, which matters when sponsorship approval requires internal budget sign-off.
Clarify Sponsorship Before the Offer Stage
KPMG's practice-level hiring managers often have more sponsorship discretion than HR generalists. Raise your visa requirements with the recruiting team after an on-site interview, not in an initial screen, so the conversation happens when they already see you as a fit.
Prepare Your Credential Evaluation Before Applying
If your accounting or business degree is from outside the U.S., have a credential evaluation completed before you apply. KPMG's engagement teams move quickly through final-round decisions, and delays in confirming degree equivalency can stall an LCA filing or complicate H-1B petition prep.
Use Migrate Mate to Target Open Project Consultant Roles
Filtering for Project Consultant openings at firms with active H-1B and E-3 sponsorship histories saves time. Migrate Mate lets you surface KPMG roles specifically tagged for sponsorship-eligible candidates, so you're applying where the path to filing is already established.
Understand How KPMG Handles Cap-Gap Periods
If you're transitioning from OPT to H-1B status, USCIS's cap-gap rule lets you keep working through September 30 while your petition is pending. Confirm with KPMG's immigration team that your engagement start date accounts for the cap-gap window and any premium processing timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does KPMG sponsor H-1B visas for Project Consultants?
Yes, KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for Project Consultants across its advisory, audit, and tax practice lines. Sponsorship is handled through KPMG's internal immigration team in coordination with outside counsel. Approval is role-specific and depends on the position qualifying as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which typically requires a directly related bachelor's degree or higher.
How do I apply for Project Consultant jobs at KPMG?
You can apply directly through KPMG's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which surfaces Project Consultant openings at firms with confirmed sponsorship histories. KPMG runs structured recruiting cycles for consulting roles, including campus programs and experienced-hire tracks. Identify the practice line you're targeting, such as Deal Advisory or Risk Consulting, before submitting to ensure your application reaches the right team.
Which visa types does KPMG commonly use for Project Consultant roles?
KPMG most commonly sponsors H-1B visas for Project Consultants, which covers the broadest range of nationalities. Australian citizens may be sponsored under the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and allows two-year renewable status. For candidates seeking permanent residence, KPMG has a track record of supporting EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card filings, typically after a period of full-time employment.
What qualifications does KPMG expect for a sponsored Project Consultant position?
KPMG generally expects a bachelor's degree or higher in a field directly relevant to the practice area, such as accounting, finance, economics, or information systems. For experienced hires, prior client-facing consulting or professional services experience strengthens both your candidacy and the specialty occupation argument required for H-1B support. CPA candidacy or relevant certifications improve your profile in audit and tax-adjacent roles.
How do I time my application to avoid gaps in work authorization?
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, so KPMG typically finalizes sponsored offers in the winter or early spring recruiting cycle. If you're on OPT, confirm your EAD expiration date and STEM extension eligibility before accepting a timeline. Cap-gap protection under USCIS rules covers continued employment through September 30 if your petition is filed on time and your OPT was active on April 1.
