Align your credentials with CPA firm expectations
MBE CPAs works primarily with small business and nonprofit clients, so bookkeeping candidates who can document experience with fund accounting, payroll processing, or QuickBooks carry stronger profiles than those with only corporate accounting backgrounds.
Target offices actively posting Bookkeeper openings
MBE CPAs operates through regional offices, and hiring activity is not uniform across all locations. Search by location and filter specifically for Bookkeeper titles on Migrate Mate to surface the offices with active openings before applying broadly.
Understand how the H-1B specialty occupation standard applies
USCIS requires Bookkeeper roles to meet the specialty occupation definition for H-1B eligibility. A bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field strengthens your petition. Unrelated degrees paired with bookkeeping experience alone have a higher RFE risk.
Ask about the firm's internal sponsorship process during the offer stage
Regional accounting firms sometimes coordinate visa filings through a central HR function rather than individual offices. Confirm early whether MBE CPAs handles H-1B or TN filings in-house or through outside counsel so you can set realistic start-date expectations.
Prepare your work authorization documents before an offer arrives
Have your transcripts, degree equivalency evaluation if applicable, and any prior visa documentation ready before an offer is extended. MBE CPAs uses E-Verify for employment eligibility, so delays in document submission can push your start date back significantly.

Does MBE CPAs sponsor H-1B visas for Bookkeepers?
Yes, MBE CPAs has sponsored H-1B visas for Bookkeeper roles. For a Bookkeeper position to qualify, USCIS requires it to meet the specialty occupation standard, which generally means the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a directly related field. Candidates with unrelated degrees or equivalent experience alone face a higher risk of a Request for Evidence.
How do I apply for Bookkeeper jobs at MBE CPAs?
You can browse and apply for Bookkeeper openings at MBE CPAs directly through Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by visa sponsorship history so you can identify active roles without guessing whether sponsorship is available. MBE CPAs posts Bookkeeper positions across multiple regional offices, so filtering by location helps you target offices that are actively hiring for your work authorization type.
Which visa types does MBE CPAs commonly use for Bookkeeper roles?
MBE CPAs has sponsored Bookkeeper candidates on H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. F-1 OPT and CPT are typically used by candidates already in the hiring pipeline before graduation. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose accounting credentials meet NAFTA/USMCA occupational requirements. H-1B remains the primary long-term sponsorship pathway.
What qualifications does MBE CPAs expect for sponsored Bookkeeper positions?
MBE CPAs serves small businesses and nonprofits, so practical experience with payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger functions carries significant weight. A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is typically expected, especially for visa-sponsored roles. Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is commonly listed in Bookkeeper job postings across the firm's regional offices.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a sponsored Bookkeeper role at MBE CPAs?
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship, the annual cap registration window opens in March and employment can begin October 1 at the earliest. For OPT extensions, DOL Labor Condition Application processing typically takes seven to ten business days, but build in extra time for any back-and-forth. Starting your job search at least six months before your current authorization expires gives you realistic runway for the full filing process.
