We are at the forefront of future engineering technologies, with solutions that ensure the success of our clients in key industries that are shaping the future of the world we live in.
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Supplier & Project Quality Engineer to join our Hydro Division, working across supplier facilities, manufacturing sites, and project locations. This role serves as the quality focal point for both supplier qualification and full project execution — ensuring that all procured components and project quality deliverables meet design specifications, contractual requirements, and our stringent quality standards throughout the lifecycle of our equipment.
Responsibilities
- Qualify, assess, and continuously monitor suppliers of critical hydro components (runner blades, wicket gates, generator windings, shafts, flanges, seals, instrumentation, etc.).
- Conduct supplier audits (QMS, process, and product) at manufacturing facilities worldwide, including gap assessments against ISO 9001 and sector-specific standards.
- Define, develop and enforce project and Supplier Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.
- Evaluate and approve supplier quality documentation packages: material certifications, NDT reports, dimensional reports, weld procedures, and related records.
- Track and drive closure of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and monitor supplier quality KPIs.
- Act as Quality focal point for assigned hydro projects from contract award through equipment commissioning.
- Review and approve Project Quality Plans and quality deliverables in alignment with contract requirements and applicable standards (IEC, ASME, EN, ISO).
- Coordinate and witness Third-Party Inspections (TPI) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at supplier and manufacturing facilities.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), deviation requests, and waivers; evaluate technical impact and ensure proper disposition and root cause analysis.
- Interface directly with customers and their representatives on quality-related matters, including site inspections and quality hold points.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Division Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 and project-specific requirements.
- Analyze quality data and trends; identify systemic issues and drive corrective action processes (8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why).
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments (FMEA) to embed quality early in the product lifecycle.
- Mentor junior quality engineers and contribute to training initiatives across the quality function.
- Drive lessons learned processes and support resource and budget planning for the quality function.
- Being the subject matter expert for special processes like welding, painting and high precision machining.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of progressive quality engineering experience in heavy industrial manufacturing — hydropower, power generation, turbomachinery, oil & gas, nuclear, or aerospace preferred.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification — preferred.
- Ability to travel to supplier sites and project facilities worldwide (up to 40%).
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Strong working knowledge of relevant standards: ISO 9001, IEC 60034, IEC 60041, ASME, EN 1090, ASTM.
- Subject Matter Expert in Fabrication, Machining & Heavy Mechanical/Electrical Assembly.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier quality management, including global supply chain auditing and corrective action management (SCAR, 8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why).
- Good understanding of large rotating equipment, pressure vessels, castings, forgings, and high-voltage electrical equipment.
- Good understanding of Quality Inspection, GD&T measurement, NDT techniques (UT, MT, PT), weld inspection, and dimensional verification.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; able to work constructively with suppliers, customers, and multidisciplinary project teams across cultures and time zones.
- Strong technical writing skills — ability to produce clear quality plans, inspection procedures, and NCR dispositions.
- Strong soft skills including leadership, analytical thinking, critical problem-solving, time management, autonomy, and resilience.
- Self-starter.

Target engineering and technical roles
ANDRITZ's sponsorship activity concentrates in specialized technical and engineering functions. Focus your application on roles that align with their industrial equipment and process technology business, where specialty occupation requirements are clearest and H-1B sponsorship is most defensible.
Understand ANDRITZ's Green Card commitment
ANDRITZ has a track record of supporting employees through permanent residence pathways, not just temporary work visas. If long-term stability matters to you, ask directly about Green Card sponsorship timelines during the interview process.
Highlight industry-specific experience
ANDRITZ operates in specialized industrial and distribution sectors. Candidates with direct experience in pulp and paper, hydropower, or industrial automation will stand out. Relevant domain knowledge reduces employer hesitation around the complexity of sponsoring international workers.
Research open roles before reaching out
Given ANDRITZ's selective sponsorship volume, verifying active openings before applying saves time. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find current ANDRITZ roles that are open to international candidates.
Prepare for a methodical hiring process
ANDRITZ is a large multinational with structured hiring workflows. Expect multiple interview rounds and longer decision timelines. Build in buffer time before your OPT expiration or status deadline to avoid being pressured into rushed decisions on either side.

Find ANDRITZ JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does ANDRITZ sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, ANDRITZ does sponsor H-1B visas. Sponsorship tends to be focused on specialized technical and engineering roles where the specialty occupation standard is clearly met. While ANDRITZ is not among the highest-volume H-1B sponsors, they have an established track record of supporting international employees through the petition process.
Which visa types does ANDRITZ sponsor?
ANDRITZ sponsors H-1B, EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. This range covers both temporary work authorization and permanent residence pathways. The TN category is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles, while EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship signals a longer-term employment commitment.
Which departments or roles at ANDRITZ are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at ANDRITZ is most common in engineering, project management, and technical specialist roles tied to their core industrial and process technology business. Roles in mechanical engineering, automation, software, and field service that require specialized degrees are the strongest fit. General administrative or sales roles are less likely to qualify under the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I find open jobs at ANDRITZ that are open to visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to search on Migrate Mate, which tracks verified sponsorship histories so you can confirm ANDRITZ actively sponsors the visa type you need before applying. Filter by company name and visa type to surface current openings. Applying through a platform that verifies sponsorship data saves time and avoids pursuing roles where sponsorship is unclear.
How do I time my application to ANDRITZ around H-1B cap deadlines?
H-1B cap petitions must be filed in early April for an October 1 start date. To meet that window, you generally need a signed offer by February or March at the latest. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date early and communicate your timeline to ANDRITZ's HR team so they can align internally with their immigration counsel and avoid missing the annual filing deadline.
