Tailor your resume to Bloomberg's data stack
Bloomberg's Data Contributor teams work with proprietary data pipelines, financial instruments, and real-time feeds. Highlight experience with structured financial data, data validation workflows, or content operations systems rather than generic data entry or analysis skills.
Identify roles that align with sponsored visa types
Bloomberg sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Data Contributors. If you're Australian, the E-3 gives you year-round access without a lottery. Target roles where the job description emphasizes specialty occupation duties to strengthen your visa petition.
Find open Data Contributor roles through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Bloomberg's open Data Contributor positions by visa type so you can focus only on roles where your work authorization category is actively sponsored, saving you from applying to positions that won't move forward.
Prepare for Bloomberg's LCA wage requirements early
Bloomberg files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition. Research the prevailing wage for Data Contributor roles in your target office location so you can evaluate whether any offer meets DOL wage level requirements before you accept.
Time your H-1B application around Bloomberg's hiring cycle
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. Bloomberg typically completes offers and paperwork well before the USCIS registration window opens in March, so start your application process no later than the preceding fall.
Document your specialty occupation credentials precisely
USCIS scrutinizes whether Data Contributor roles qualify as specialty occupations. Gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations, and employment letters that connect your specific academic background directly to Bloomberg's data operations responsibilities before your employer files the I-129.

Find Data Contributor at Bloomberg JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Bloomberg sponsor H-1B visas for Data Contributors?
Yes, Bloomberg sponsors H-1B visas for Data Contributor roles. The process involves Bloomberg filing a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL, followed by an I-129 petition with USCIS. Cap-subject H-1B petitions require selection in the annual lottery, so timing your application process ahead of the March registration window is critical.
Which visa types does Bloomberg commonly sponsor for Data Contributor roles?
Bloomberg sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for Data Contributors. Australian citizens have the advantage of the E-3 visa, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and allows unlimited two-year renewals. H-1B1 is available to citizens of Chile and Singapore under similar treaty terms.
How do I apply for Data Contributor jobs at Bloomberg?
You can browse open Data Contributor positions at Bloomberg on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you only see positions relevant to your work authorization. Once you identify a role, apply directly through Bloomberg's careers portal. Tailor your application to emphasize financial data, content operations, or data pipeline experience specific to Bloomberg's business.
What qualifications does Bloomberg expect for Data Contributor roles?
Bloomberg's Data Contributor positions typically require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, economics, computer science, or information systems, along with demonstrated experience working with structured data, financial instruments, or data quality processes. Roles that qualify for H-1B sponsorship must meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning the degree requirement is specific to the field, not just any bachelor's degree.
How do I plan my timeline if Bloomberg sponsors my visa for a Data Contributor role?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and H-1B1 applicants can be processed through consular appointments without lottery constraints, often within weeks of receiving an offer. Cap-subject H-1B applicants face an October 1 start date at the earliest, meaning an offer accepted in late fall may not result in an employment start for nearly a year. Bloomberg's immigration team typically manages the USCIS filing process once an offer is extended.
