Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Driver Jobs at Charles River Laboratories Jobs
Obtain a Commercial Driver's License Early
Many Driver roles at Charles River Laboratories require a CDL with hazmat endorsement for transporting biological or regulated research materials. Completing CDL training and obtaining your hazmat endorsement before applying strengthens your candidacy and removes a common pre-hire bottleneck.
Target Facilities Near Research Campuses
Charles River operates courier and transport roles tied to specific laboratory campuses and contract research sites. Focus your applications on locations near major biotech hubs where specimen transport demand is highest and driver headcount needs are more consistent year-round.
Clarify Your OPT or TN Status Upfront
For F-1 OPT holders, confirm your STEM extension eligibility before your initial OPT period ends. For TN candidates, ensure your role description aligns with a qualifying USMCA occupation category before your offer letter is drafted to avoid delays during the filing stage.
Ask Specifically About PERM-Based Green Card Timelines
Charles River has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which require PERM labor certification through the DOL. Ask your recruiter directly whether the Driver role you're targeting is eligible, since not every operational position qualifies for employer-sponsored permanent residence.
Browse Open Driver Positions on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Driver openings at Charles River Laboratories by visa type, so you're only reviewing roles where your specific authorization is supported. This narrows your list to actionable opportunities before you invest time in the application process.
Document Chain-of-Custody Experience for Your Resume
Charles River's research transport roles often involve regulated specimen handling under strict chain-of-custody protocols. Highlighting prior experience with temperature-controlled or biohazardous shipments signals operational readiness to hiring managers who prioritize compliance over a generic driving background.

Find Driver at Charles River Laboratories JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Charles River Laboratories sponsor H-1B visas for Drivers?
Charles River Laboratories does sponsor H-1B visas, and Driver roles are included in the positions the company has supported with work authorization. That said, H-1B sponsorship for Driver positions is less common than for scientific or technical roles, so confirming sponsorship eligibility for the specific posting you're applying to is an important early step in your conversations with the recruiter.
How do I apply for Driver jobs at Charles River Laboratories?
Applications go through Charles River's careers portal, where Driver openings are listed by facility location. You can also browse Driver roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify postings where your specific authorization is supported before you apply. When you reach the interview stage, be prepared to discuss your CDL status, any endorsements, and your experience handling regulated or temperature-sensitive materials.
Which visa types are commonly used for Driver roles at Charles River Laboratories?
Charles River Laboratories sponsors multiple visa categories relevant to Driver positions, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT. TN is a practical option for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role meets USMCA occupation criteria. F-1 OPT is commonly used for candidates already in the U.S. completing their authorized training period. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways have also been supported for longer-term positions.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Driver roles at Charles River Laboratories?
Most Driver positions at Charles River require a valid CDL, and many facilities require a hazmat endorsement given the nature of transporting biological specimens and regulated laboratory materials. Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical logistics is a strong differentiator. Familiarity with chain-of-custody documentation, temperature-controlled transport, and federal DOT compliance requirements is frequently noted in job postings across their facility network.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Driver role at Charles River Laboratories?
Timeline depends on the visa category. F-1 OPT authorization is typically already in place before you start, so there's no additional USCIS filing delay. H-1B processing runs three to six months under standard timelines, or two to four weeks with premium processing. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 is a multi-year process involving DOL labor certification before USCIS filing begins, so it's most relevant for candidates planning long-term tenure.
